Thread: Meditate

I've spent some time thinking. And find myself agreeing with alot of points made on this board. Various threads could be listed, specific examples, but that would be pointless. Instead, I'll voice some of my own thoughts. Right now, I'm not too far into the Teras Kasi tree, but thats beside the point. I'm not here to tell you how easy I have it, or listen to how hard you might have it at the higher levelsof TKA. My point in writing this post is to make a few suggestions. The suggestion is prompted by my agreeing with the opinion that presently, there isn't much of a draw towards the Meditate line of skills until you 'need' to get it to persue the title of Master Teras Kasi.

Anyway, Meditate, I'm told is great for healing wounds, once you get it to the higher levels (Master Meditate, for example). But beyond that, there isn't much point. Power Boost isn't what it could be. And Force of Will is simply so costly in exp, most Teras Kasi are better off working at Balance Conditioning or Power Techniques first. Below I've written some suggestions regarding how Meditate might be made a more appealing branch to persue.

First Suggestion:Consider if the higher level of Meditate you had, the less costly HAM wise your 'specials' are. This would require considerable rebalancing of the HAM costs of specials initially, but I think it could work. I think that alone would draw massive crowds of willing Teras Kasi wanting to get into that right away.

Second Suggestion:Consider if a Master Teras Kasi could spend 5 minutes Meditating and as a result his physical attributes were raised say, 200 points for the secondary attributes, and 300 points for the primaries. The overall affect on attributes and the duration would be dependant upon the level of the individuals Meditate skill. Additionally, if these changes were made, then this level of Meditating should cost mind pool points at a rate similar to a dancer dancing, or a musician playing. This would make Power Boost useless, but I don't really know of anyone who uses Power Boost anyway, so perhaps it could be replaced with some other skill/ability. Perhaps this ability in general should replace Power Boost. Making it so only when active, would this ability (Meditate2? Deep Meditate?) drain mind pool. In line with modifying Meditate, I also make the recommendation that it would be nice (when meditating normally) We regenerated slightly faster then we would if sitting. Once more dependant on the level of Meditate you have. Consider. meditating at 1% * your level of Meditate skill. So at Master Teras Kasi we would regenerate twice as fast meditating as we would sitting.

Anyway, these are all my opinions and my suggestions. If anyone has brought them up before, then consider this me agreeing with you. For I don't spend hours reading over the forums. If anyone has brought this up before and got any feedback, Dev or from other players, please let me know. Any feedback is appreciated. You can either reply to this post or email me at [email protected].

I've made this point alot before, but I'll make it again for the sake of clarification:

Every melee profession BESIDES TKA gets a bleeding attack(or more than one). To balance this out, TKA's have an "anti-bleed", that being Meditate. It stops every DOT except fire, and as some icing on the top even rapidly heals wounds.

With that in mind, it really is already more powerful than it ought to be. Giving it additonal strengths(though i agree that the meditation abilities ought to be fixed) would make it overpowered.

Please nerf TKA's! I just one hit incap'd myself again with knockdown!

XKogenX glad you started this thread,

I have long been stating that the devs never really finished our class.

Your suggestions are a good start, however I think the mediation line needs a total overhaul.

POWERBOOST

  • Current Problems:

    • Small HAM increase

    • 20 second duration

    • serious mind wounds

    • must initiate while meditating

  • Instead I propose it doing One of the following

    • Increase our general running speed

    • Zerk with specials(they'd never do this one though)

    • Effect HAM levels

      • 200 increase useless, have it in ratio wth med skill level, at master I want it atleast 500 across the board. What the hell does 200 do for you?, What does 500 even do, its only 2 extra shots by a marksman.

      • Duration MUST be extended to 5 minutes, again on ratio with med level.

FORCE OF WILL

  • Current Problems:

    • Useless, how does it help me to get up quicker after being incapped? If the pistoleer that just incapped me is standing next to me ?

    • I just do not see the weighted benefit for this high level skill

  • Propose:

    • FOW acts as an Iron skin lowering damage in ratio to med level

I have always felt that giving meditatethe ability to healbattle fatigue would make it a great asset. Nobody else can do this at this point in the game (not to my knowledge anyway), giving us a significantedge.

HAM regeneration speed increase would be fabulous and so would a much bigger timerand effectiveness on power boost.

My 2 creds is that Meditate is pretty good as it is. It doesn't do anything until master, but since master I've loved it. I wouldn't want to ask for too much more becausewhat we have could get taken away. It's happened before.

Interesting ideas though

My point is strengthened in your reply.

"It doesn't do anything until master"

Now, I haven't messed around with the Meditate line yet, but from what I've read, this seems to be the general consensus. 1225000 exp until this line does anything at all. One of my main points is that this is always the last line anyone goes up in their venture to become a Master of Teras Kasi.

As is, from what I can tell it heals about 20-30 wounds per second at the master levels. Personally, I think thats a little much. But thats just my opinion. I wouldn't mind seeingMeditate's woundhealing abilities lowered if we were compensated by making Meditate a more attractive tree to climb. The apple at the top might be a very good apple, but its still at the top, and the other trees in TKA give better rewards alongthe way.

I'll agree with this statement the moment meditate becomes a combat skill. As of right now, the abilities granted by the meditate line don't mean a thing during combat, which again'short changes' usin melee.

Me: "Wait a moment now, Mr. Raider ... Mr. Bandage-head!Can't you see I'm bleeding?"

Tusken Raider: ""Urrk?"

Me: "Mind if I sit down and meditate for a moment?"

LOL

This is a good post. Meditate blows goats until you get to master meditate. Wound healing at master meditate and master TKA is actually a little too good(maybe twice as fast as it should be).

Power boost is an absolute joke. It wears off before you even stand up. If this skill buffed your stats for 5 min it would acutally be worth using. 15-20 seconds has to be a bug. Heh.

Force of will is a great skill to have in PvE. It should work 100% of the time though, not 50 or 60. And why the heck does it have to take all of our stats down to 1!!!

Meditate should also increase our regen rates 25% or so.

I am new to the brawler profession, and trying to pick which elite profession I want to persue. I am curious as to exactly what meditate does. Does help you to heal faster, or does it heal wounds? Could someone please explain it for me? Thanks

I was scanning through skills yesterday and I noticed it said at novice tka you get a skill called meditate. In the description it said that it can be used to stop bleeding..slow poison/disease...well I was wondering how well it worked. I'm thinking of picking up some tka for the defence vs stun dizzy ect. Just wondering how well it worked thanks
