Thread: How effective is a pistoleer without dirty fighting?

I am currently going to for Master Doctor and I can't decide what my second class should be. I was think pistoleer but i won't have enough points to take the DF line of smuggler. So how effective can i be in pvp and pve?

well.. given dirtyfighting has ranged damage mitation and melee mitation... thats the only thing it has for it besides feign... well and the long distance KD, AND the most powerful technique if you combine it with the BH pistol line...
I originally was going to say pistoleer was effective minus dirtyfighting, but now...

The Dirty Fighting line only has Ranged and Melee Mitigation 1. Master Pistoleer has Ranged Mitigation 3. Mitigation does not stack.
Ranged Mitigation 3 > Ranged Mitigation 1
If you are concerned about the Melee Mitigation you can pick that up in Teras Kasi's Intermediate Balance Conditioning box instead of working 3/4 up Dirty Fighting.
Melee Mitigation from Teras Kasi = 11 skill points
Melee Mitigation from Smuggler = 18 skill points
The two Teras Kasi boxes also give you more defense verse Dizzy and Posture Change, along with Combat Equalibrium. Feign Death has no real advantage in PVP but the ranged knockdown is a bonus for the Smuggler line. So basically it comes down to this:
More defense mods (11 points) or Ranged knockdown (18 points)

Anyways in PVE Stopping Shot delivers similar damage to the Smuggler's Last Ditch and seemingly at a less cost to the HAM. Fan Shot is also a powerful special that deals damage to multiple targets.
In PVP you will suffer somewhat without a ranged knockdown and delay. We all know that the winner in PVP is the one that delivers the KD first, or at least 80% of the time. But without the speed mods from Pistoleer or Bounty Hunter, the Dirty Fighting line is almost useless in PVP.

Depends entirely on who you are trying to deliver it on.
