Recently, I decided to pick up SWG JTLS and RoTWs because I have the access ticket for several games, and figured I might as well try SWG since im paying for it. Well, I have become very Addicted to the game, and now I have a few questions, if you all don't mind. First, I am Very interested in the Pistoleer / Smuggler / Combat Medic Profession. In previous games ( EQ1 & EQ2 ) I played a Druid in both. The druid would heal, dot, snare, and kite stuff... The druid could also be a great "support" class in groups. if you dont have a healer, he could fill in for that spot, if you dont have a damage dealer he could fill in for that spot...I wasnt great at anything, but i could do a little of everything.........I am looking for a similar profession where I can be sufficent on my own (soloing) , but also be a benefit to a group....with that in mind, and the profession I am taking an interest in...is there any recomendations on how I should spend my points for the template? or what I should go profession wise?

Many thanks, and all the help is MUCH appreciated.

Well, without running it through a skill point calc, I think it's possible for you to master both smuggler and pistoleer and take one branch of CM. Whether you'll want this or not depends on your playstyle.

Mastering smuggler offers more money making opportunities in the form of slicing, spice making and faction point trading. You'll also gain loads of more crowd control abilities than you'd have with just pistoleer/CM. On the other hand, scaling down on smuggler and scaling up on CM allows you to easier heal those around you, aswell as offering several nice offensive debuffs and DoT's. IMHO a Pistoleer/MCM has more "power" than a pistoleer/smuggler, but the smuggler will have the aforementioned non-combat benefitis to consider aswell.

More healing and offensive debuffs (the CM ones are really kickass, 0004 CM myself) or non-combat abilities with more state control. All depends on playstyle I'd recommend getting one of them, trying it and if you feel it doesn't work, just regrind. Once you've familiarized yourself with the game, regrinding a new template if you keep master pistoleer through it all isn't going to take all that long.

imho combat medic 4xxx is just as good as master for healing and xxx4 is fine if all you want is drain to kite them lots.

But if you go master your dots stick alot better great for when soloing Big stuff stops there bar regen.

Saying that i loved smuggler too i was one pre Cu loved it i never traded Fp really but allways did a good trade slicing .

it was a hard one for me but Cm won me over ,Mind you i have a nice Smuggler m8 ingame

I know we're on the pistoleer boards but...
(Working up an alt to be MSmuggler/Mpistoleer/0030Commando/4000Tera Kasi)

Played EQ for a few years myself as a druid, and as a Master BH/Master Carbineer/4000 Combat medic, there isnt much i cant solo. doing a good amount of damage, the snare and KD keep them off me most times, and if they do hitme Ihave some nice defenses andsome serious healing power. Its pretty much the same playstyle as my druid.
In groups its great too, for the same reasons. Able to heal others from a distance without dying in an instant once you get aggro.
Also I prefer the "battle armor" styles of armor, so that wasa pretty big Carbineer decision for me too *grin*

Its not very imaginitive but it works well.
