Thread: Something odd with stopping shot

I got used to playing "Spot the Ball" with Krayts shortly after the CU went live, I dont look at what the client tells me, but I can predict where the Krayt is from where it was and where I expect it to be.

It takes a fair few kills to be able to gauge it but once you stop believing what your client is telling you then it gets a bit easier.

So I stopping shot my target and stay my typical 30m out and run around this unfortuneate Gackle Bat and once the root wears off the bat proceeds to fly the circle i just ran and and I'm shooting it the whole time it is flying aroundmy circle. Ithen tried it on a Peko Peko Albatross, samething happened but they have a HUGE AoE so it didn't really matter since I was using a pistol and he could hit me pretty much whereverI was. I had a friend do this with Ancient Krayts who msged me about and I tried it. This really isn't working as intended is it? Anyway, I thought I'd pass this on and see if the rest of you pistol wielders have noticed the same thing.

I just came back from a Krayt farming session, killed about 5 Ancients solo, most of the time I am running 15m behind their tail as they attempt to close the gap on the position I was in50 seconds ago.

The poor things suffer from worse lag than we do!

Its all a bit farcical really.

Glad you can manage this, whenever I've been near a Krayt, solo or in a group, it warps all over the place, normally straight on top of me. Although sometimes it can be right on top of me and I can't hit it because it's too far away, or sometimes it will be miles away and I will still be getting hit.

This seems to happen with all of the large MOBS, e.g. Krayts, Fambaas, Tortons, Malklocs, etc. Why the server and client can't just kiss and make up and actually agree on something I'll never know.

Yeah it's wierd. And if you break line of site with your target, it will come straight for you.

I figured this out while hunting gorax on Endor. there is minimal lag there, but they will still chase me in endles circles if I fight them on open ground. As soo as I got behind or tree or into a itch and loose LOS, they stop the circle and come straight for me and put the hurt on.

Krayts tend to "Crazy Ivan" every once in a while as well, but its just a client thing I think, they still keep plodding along in the same ridiculous circle as their health slowly goes down to 0 and every now and then they briefly spin around and then go back to their fate.

The hunt for the Red October is the best movie, and book, ever.

So Badger basicly you solo Ancient Krayts by shooting them with stopping shot and running circles? Or am I seeing this wrong, would be cool if I could solo a Krayt just wouldnt know how to start this. Can you give a description or anything? Thanks

ancients arent really worth it to solo, it takes so long to kill em and even if you get em close to dead they will retreat after a certain amount of time unless you let em tag you every once in a while, best thing to do is to start with your root that way they stay in the general area they started in so if they retreat they wont gain all their health back before you can re-enter combat with them...pretty much i suggest stickin with canyon or juve's and you can make the whole process go smoother by pullin the krayt into one of the many random stormy spawns...lol yeah as a reb i feel guilty doin this but whatever gets the job done
