Thread: An off Idea to help pistoleer

Jedi and Swordsmen have it, why not let Master Pistoleer (and only master) get a simple armor break? Maybe not as good as swordsmen or Jedi, just something to help the damage. Well that and lets see the moves stick more and last longer. (IE warning shot last more then 15sec or so).


Why only master pistoleer? If you put it in Master Pistoleer it will stop every and all MRM/MBH from getting it like stoping shot.

Why not as good as Jedi and Swordsmen? We are ranged, granted a Jedi can hit me with his saber in the same distance I can shot him. (32m for saber/forcepowers 35 for pistoleers, lag makes it diffrent).

Why I think it should be so? I can spam quickdraw/bodyshot very fast, however compaired to my carbineer I still lose. I have a Damage/SAC 2.02 speed carbine and a Damage/Speed caped 75 SAC HCS pistol. Same builds and the carbine wins all the time. With the low damage done by the pistol and its shorter range the carbine takes less damage while doing more per hit, if pistoleers have an armor break it might help this a small bit.


Now, if you don't want this for pistoleer thats ok, just please make the status shots last longer, like 30 sec and make them stick a whole lot more at Master Pistoleer. Or do both, either way I'd be happy.


To add... if not Master Pistoleer, maybe make adv and only adv firearm strike do an armor break, somethign to make it a good KD.

It would be cool if we got the equivilent of the first armor break, xx3x brawler, from pistoleer. Would be even better if they fixed our states!

This is such a great idea, I think that BadgerSmaker shouldtell jedi that they should tell the devs they need to do this to make pistoleer a great profession so that everyone isn't a rifleman.

To bad warning shot is not so good, only -80 defense isn't much at all to help the damage. Every little bit counts but whats an extra 10 damage per shot going to do. If fighting melee/jedi its almost nothing. If not an armor break, why not make warning shot be better, last longer and maybe -100 defense. Even if -100 still won't be worth much. PvE maybe, not PvP vs a buffed/defensive or buffed/healing player. Rifleman/Carbineer with no warning shot will do more damage to a pistoleer then a pistoleer attacking them with warning shot on them. Not saying that a Pistoleer can't win, but your items must be much better then theirs to do well.


I love pistols and I like to use them more then other weapons for their control/debuffs (to bad it doesn't last long). However you try to fight with a pistol vs a jedi, the only way you can have a chance of wining is if your Mdoc or MCM. Even vs a melee with Mdoc or MCM will have a much much greater chance of beating a pistoleer. Low damage andin melee range with short range so they can be kited like a melee when fighting carbineers/rifleman. They need some help big time before they will make it to par in PvP witht he other combat professions. Please help the PvP aspect of pistoleer BadgerSmaker, in PvE they do very well (I can solo anything with a pistol as well as I can with a rifle/carbine if I have a snare).

Reading over your "Focus Thread: Pistoleer top 3 bugs and top 5 issues" post you seem to be on the line I am. So just ignore that rant since I can't edit and just smack a dev upside the head and tell him to do it already.

Our states suck. I like pistoleer because of the stigma, but damn rifleman looks better and better all the time.

Our states need to be much more effective. We don't have the damage, we don't have the range....we need something.

well i dont really have any damage probs myself, i can school just about any carb or rifleman, lol the only time i have troubles is when my opponent has cm or doc(their mind outlast my action and i end up kiting adn such but with the spd pistols go at knockdown is absolutely devastating especialy in pvp try kd then disarming shot, most people click kd recover then move on you can get in all the shots you need, with a good pistol you can usually drop anyone except a tk with cob on in within the first 5-10secs or so, and altho warning shot kinda sucks it stacks with armor break at least . but armor break would be fantastic, i love seeing that little icon under their ham bar, they dont last long after that

Why not make an improved version of warning shot that you get at master, which gives -150 def, and lasts for 30 secs? Something like this might actually be useful.

i agree: we lack the damage - so we get speed. we lack the range - so we get States... But really we dont. an improved version of Warning shot would rock. and i have a question - Disarming shot is supposed to nullify ur opponents next move - does this work fore healing? i've tested but never really been satisfied - in my experience it doesn't stick enough to be effective and i dont think it stalls helaing.

disarming shot is a 5 second daze and breaks on damage, its mostly meant to give you a moments reprieve but yes it will stop heals
