Hey everyone! i'm new to pistoleer only 0/0/1/1 I just about have enough Combat XP for the 2nd part of column 4, but what other areas is it best to work up. I intend to master pistoleer, before moving on to anything else.

Thank you all in advance for the help

It depends on your style of play, and everyone has a different view of which skill mods and specials are better.

My view is simply this:

Concentrate on branch 2 and 3.

Branch 2 gives you accuracy while moving, but branch 3 gives you some good specials.

I have kept branch 3 one complete box above branch 2.

I get a new special, then get some more accuracy.

But i've decided not to go for master, so this may be irrelevant information which i'm sure will be pointed out by someone with a chip on their shoulder.

I am aiming for 0/2/4/2.

Atm i am 0/2/3/2.

I was gonna go for master, but decided it wasnt worth it and am spending those points on Doctor instead.

Since you will really notice a big difference only when hitting Master, answering is very difficult.

Atm, avoid branch 3 because it is clearly irrelevant...Marksman moves are just better DPS (Damage Per Second) and focus on speed or accuracy while moving (very important as a Pistoleer, everyone wants to nerf us because of this).

But imho, branch 3 is pure waste of time right now...

Stopping shot and Fan shot are not waste of time sir.

Seems like some helpful information guys thank you. I guess like eveyone I like to see how everyone is approaching the proffessions so I can begin to form a plan of attack 2-3 seem to be the best to start with though. 4 being combat XP controled I'll be able to move right up the tree.

First off hi! I troll your boards same as every other profession.

Pistoleer is up for me! Not by holocron, by my own personal choice -- I mastered Carbineer...which was, interesting to say the least. I tried some rifleman...but being a Master Doc the mind HAM costs were too much to be good at both, tried Heavy Swords, Fencer and Teras Kasi...right now I'm picking either TKA or Pistoleer.

Pistoleer is fast and accurate...relatively stable DPS I've noticed -- I've noticed same with every class it seems somewhat broken, yet somewhat very stable.

Mind you I'm not a holocron chaser...I got one which told me to Master Dancer and I said..."Eat me." I'm playing the game to have fun, so I wanna try Pistols --

As stupid as it sounds...my stats have been so tilted towards being a Medical Specialist that I'm not sure how to set them now -- obviously it seems like health HAMs are key to Pistols -- this true?

Any hints tips of any kind appreciated, just trying to make sure I have the most fun possible...so I wanna start a dialogue and see what others did to have fun. No, I don't want a 24 Hour Macro, just curious to see what others did/do for fun with pistols.

i find my action pool gets drained more than my health does. depends on your pistol.

i'm constantly changing my HAM as my pistols change. but i find Stamina to be very helpful.

Yeah, definitely boost your Action pool. DoubleTap and Pistol Whip will drain it pretty good, as will Overcharge Shot (which is a marksmen skill but still kicks a** for a Pistoleer). I recently boosted my Action 70 pts and will probably boost it some more. I'm trying not to take much from my mind though because of my Medic skills.

I am going to go Pistoleer, (hence the reason i post) and i would just like some BASIC start out points for the profession i have been reading this Pistoleer forum for a while nowand WOW there is alot to take in. I'm not new to the game just the profession. I was dabbling in BH only having LLc-III. MY current skills are now.

  • Master Scout - Master Ranger

Those are my main body, i LOVE the Ranger Profession and consider my self to be a Full Blooded loyal to the Code Master Ranger.

I have done the math and found that when i master Pistoleer it will looke like this

  • Master Scout - Master Ranger - Master Pistoleer - Novice Medic; Pharmcology I ( or First aid, etc)

Just would like some tips to help me out. I am going PvCr ( Player Vs Creature) PvP, & PvC. After Reading the post titled Status of Pistoleer Special that has been "enlighting" to say the least. from that post and many other, it appears that the pistoleer profession is GOod but is not gettting tread with full respect, and when some change the devs need to make (based on all the reply and comment from the may different postes) that the profession will be Kick ass. Also that the pistoleer get the "Short end of hte stick" when it comes to the higher lvl gun professions in comparison. (i.e. Carbineer, rifleman, pistoleer) { the "Triad" of core gunprofession as i like to put it}

Correct me or just comment on this if i'm wrong etc....

Hi everybody,

I'm slowly going up the Pistoleer branch. It takes a LONG time to do so. I don't know if it is related to the guns I'm using, but it's pretty hard to get XP.

Currently I'm using a Striker, Republic Blaster and a FWG5. I check the target for it's vulnerability and use the according weapon to kill it.

I got a few questions:

  1. The higher I go in the tree and getcertifications for new pistols, does that automatically mean that new gun is better than all others before?

  2. I'm now certified for the Geo Sonic Blaster. Is it any good and worth buying one?

  3. Technique seems to be the branch to go up in first, to start using the Fan Shot. Any tips for next branch?

Thanks all for your time and answers!

1. totaly depends on the pistol stats etc low lvl guns can be better than high lvl guns and vise versa

2. yes a Geo Blaster is in my opinion the best gun around for pve and pvp except for stun resist armors and mobs and you cant get lairs down with it . But defenetly buy on .

3. yes first do##4# and then do 4### and the line ###4 no pistol exp needed just combat exp. or just go ##4# and do the other 2 lines equal.

i know some dont agree with this but this is what i did and worked perfect

I would get a dx2 which you didnt list.. and I hope you know about the whole getting buffed and going and killing harder stuff on adventure planets. And ya get up to tech 4 and then just do whatever you want.. either dodge or accuracy... filling in the other stuff when you get a chance.

first let me welcome you to pistoleer, it's not for the faint of heart

get a dx2, it'll be very easy to find a dx2 with around +40 accuracy @ ideal, which will help a LOT at novice

also some other good pistols to pick up would be a modified republic blaster and a nice scout blaster for those energy vulnerable mobs like a lot that are on endor

also pick up the accuracy line as soon as possible, fanshot's amazing, but no matter how much damage you do, it won't matter when you're missing every other shot

dodge is a very good defensive line, but in terms of grinding, should be picked up last so you do the most damage to make your grind go faster
