Roll shot makes your roll to a kneeling position while firing a shot. Just like Kip-Up shot makes you stand and firing a shot and Dive Shot makes you dive to Prone while firing a shot.
[EDIT]If you look in your Command Browser (Ctrl + A) under Combat, find RollShot and click on it to get a description. You can also hover your mouse over the skill in the skill trees to get a description too. The description for RollShot is pretty much what I said, just a bit better written haha

It also makes you harder to hit for a short period of time, like the tumbling moves, but, doesn't stop you from using specials, unlike tumbling.
It also used to allow us a damage multiplier(I could regularly hit upwards of 600 points of damage with an unsliced Scout Blaster having only Pistols III), but I haven't seen that in a long time.

I love roll shot, we may not be able to deliver a lot of damage, but we sure can look good when we do that move, followed by a dodge. Happens to me pretty regularly and it looks really sweet, makes your character seem really agile, which I like.

Are you sure it gives a defensive bonus? It doesn't say that it does. Is this documented or proven anywhere?
Roll Shot has a damage modifier of 1.5, which is the same mod as Kip-up Shot. Dive shot's mod is 1.8 though. All three have the same delay modifier.
The def bonus is what comes naturally from kneeling. Harder to hit, better accy, more dmg taken from melee. The shot itself imparts no def bonuses, the change of postures does.
