Well I had some skill points to use up after dropping useless scout trees I don't need (am also master creature handler.) Got the first line of medic to help out with stim-B use, and first 3 boxes of rifles under marksman profession.

Running around using a typical laser rifle I bought for 5000 credits, and headshot 2, I often do over 1000 damage, 1 shotting things that con white.

I know speed is an issue, but also I'm thinking WOW, what if I had more xp, a better weapon, and area effect, higher armor piercing, and some skill tapes. I'd be uber! I am going drunk with power, someone convince me not to leave my beloved pistoleer profession!

Find a goal to work towards, the de-10 for instance. Otherwise, maybe you should explorer other professions. I would, but I don't want to leave in case the new pistols are not just a tease. It all (should) come down to what brings you the most fun. Trying all the professions would be fun, hehe.

Just to let u know, i am an ex-master rifleman. its not really as powerfull as everyone says. yes they do alot of dmg to mind, from 64 meters, but i do belive that with a nice kryat pistol, i easily out damage my self as a pistoleer/desperado then as a rifleman. also, not to put any riflemen down or anything, but w/ pistoleer in it current statis (broken specials) it forces us to adapt and be clever(sp?). pls do not leave us and become another FOTM proffesion!

Ok well thanks for the encouragement. I'll stick it out a bit longer, I know rifleman will get nerfed and pistoleer fixed the moment I switch anyway.

I'm a pistoleer at heart, but I left our broken profession a few months ago now to try something different, I've picked up rifles as well as a couple of the melee professions in that time but I've held onto my pistols the best I can, I'm a smuggler too at the moment so I still use my pistols from time to time. Here's is my list of places where rifleman beats pistoleer

Rifleman - 90 speed at master

Pistoleer - 74 speed at master

Rifleman - 160 accuracy at master

Pistoleer - 90 accuracy at master

Rifleman - x5 damage multiplier cone attack

Pistoleer - x5 multiplier single random ham attack

Rifleman - mind damage

Pistoleer - health damage

Rifleman - AP1 stun damage

Pistoleer - AP0 stun damage, almost negated by stun composite and psgs

Rifleman - high ranged and melee defences

Pistoleer - 7 ranged defence

Rifleman - AP3 weapon

Pistoleer - AP1 weapons

Pistoleer does however beat rifleman in many areas

State defences

Accuracy while moving

More accurate in melee range

A knockdown

Dodge > Block

Ability to stack other professions to augment our pistol skills

And the number one way in which a pistoleer beats a rifleman is...

We can only get better. That's right, the fact that we've been broken since launch and nerfed so many times means that things can only improve in the up coming combat revamp.

The point to my post is this. We are terrible at the moment but we're still happy because as much as pistoleer sucks, there is other pistol content for us to aim for, riflemen are stronger and faster than anyone at the moment, butif you check out their forums they're miserable because the combat balance looks to half their attack speed bring them more into line with the rest of us, they're afraid right now, more so than any other profession. I suggest you do whatever it takes to have fun in this game while you wait to see what happens along the way, the devs have said that they're gonna be pushing out small game-wide combat changes on the road to revamp so we can expect to see some new stuff real soon. Hang in there man.

That's what the smugglers said right before they nerfed panic shot... and of course, now a feign death nerf is looming on the horizon...

Feign death nerf? say it ain't so. If you can't tell me this is an ourtageous lie, please tell me in what way it's being nerfed, and if possible, when and why too. If feign death goes I can see myself preparing to surrender master smuggler to move onto bigger things.

Thanks for your detailed response.

The main things that draw me to rifles are:

High damage with cheap weapons. Insane damage with good weapons
--> Mind targeted damage (weakest pool)
--> Armor piercing (AP) 3, all high level content REQUIRES this.
Longer standoff range actually gives more time to flee and kite (or conceal shot without ever getting noticed)

Overall as a Zabrak I don't have much trouble with state defenses, but then again, I don't PVP much or do much high level content.
Didn't know pistoleer knockdown worked, could be BH or smuggler special, haven't tried lately.

Thanks again for the positive feedback, I am definitely sticking with pistols, though that won't stop me from gaining some rifle XP on the lower end mobs with my cheapo laser rifle rather than my 2 mil apiece krayt'd pistols

I was seduced. I can't deny it....I left cuz back in Dec the lil blue cube told me to master TKA. I couldn't take it so I quit the game. Upon returning I decided to try TKM and I gotta say, I never knew how broken Pistoleerwas until I changed. I was easily out damaging my own MPistoleer damage with only 1 box of TKA.

I don't think TKA is overpowered so much as I believe Pistoleer is way, way underpowered.

On one hand, I really hate this cuz I loved being a Master Pistoleer. I toyed with the idea of going rifles early on but Pistoleer won my heart....before I knew the truth.

On the other hand, I'm having more fun in the game then ever before. I don't worry about dying nearly as much as I did when I was a pistoleer....which happened with alarming frequency compared to now. And, I can experience the games content more fully. TO me, that is a HUGE plus.

However, Pistoleer, IMO should be uber.....after all, you see so many of them in the movies. It's really a shame that all the brawler classes are out damaging pistoleer. I sure hope the devs fix this profession soon. I would love to come back to it.

Yeah, I remeber doing the singing mountain clan theme park when a hoard of nightsisters aggroed me, I ran back to the mountain top and shouted for help when a kind TKM came up (even though NS have 100% kinetic resist) and took out the NS without much trouble.

You are right, I don't want rifles or teras kasi to be nerfed, I only want to be competitive in the galaxy, it only means if I go to the death watch bunker or corvette I can help out a little rather than being a hinderance.

BTW I have no smuggler or bounty hunter skills, but am master creature handler, another profession that is useless against high end mobs, but quite useful for lower end stuff.

I'm also a MCH try usinga TMB and GSP combo. I use this combo all the time and they tank very well on Dathomir and against NPCs.Ionly lose them when I underestimate the number of attackers andsimply get overwhelmed. Other than that, I tank Janta's, NS, SingMCSis, Rancors, Bull Rancors, etc...all day long with these. Kimos and Dragons are still very difficult. However, with TKM backing up my pets, I'm usually coming to their rescue more then the other way around.

Just wish my Master Pistoleer would have been more powerful. I've actually had to bail out some pistoleers recently. I just run up and ask if they need help and they ALWAYS say yes, eventhough I'm healing their damage.

I feel for you guys and gals that have kept this profession....I really do.
