Thread: Disarming Shot 2 working as intended?

Okay I've seen a lot of mixed opinions on this so I'm wondering if anybody knows for sure... is Disarming Shot 2 working as intended? More specifically, is it supposed to be an AOE ranged knockdown attack, or just another crap-tastic special like disarming shot 1?

I have to ask, because I've been experience grinding every chance I got since I found out I will get a ranged knockdown attack at Master, and if it turns out that Disarming Shot 2 is in fact NOT supposed to be a knockdown, I really see no point in spending more skill points on this profession. I already have fan shot, bodyshot3, and pistol melee defense 1... which imo are the best specials we get (assuming they are going to make disarming shot 2 another crappy special with no real use, which they will do if it's really not supposed to be a ranged knockdown).

Please, please, PLEASE tell me disarming shot 2 is supposed to be a ranged knockdown...

Yes, it is a ranged AOE knockdown. Yes, it works quite well.

I know it's ranged knockdown, but from what I've read here and heard in-game some people think that the knockdown effect is a bug and isn't supposed to be there.

Which is what I'm asking, does anybody know for sure if it was always meant to be ranged knockdown, or if it is in fact some kind of bug and is not supposed to have the knockdown effect on it?

Since SOE has this thing of nerfing stuff before fixing what is currently broken I think if it is bugged then they should fix all the other pistoleer skills that dont work before fixing the master level one. Like oh say body shot 3, disarming shot 1, point blank single 2, over charge 2, pistol melee defense 2.......

Someone said somewhere they looked at the actual coding somehow for disarming shot 2 and it was supposed to be an AOE knockdown. Not sure where I seen someone say that at but i did see it.

In the strategy guide, it says disarming 2 was suppose to have knockdown

It is quite obvious that in its current incarnation it is not what it was originally intended to be.

The strat guide is made by prima. They base their strat guide off of in game expierinces. Prima guides are the suck. Yes it has an AOE knockdown, but it wasn't intended.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that our ranged knockdown will in fact be taken from us. Considering that a large percentage of people strive for and churned their way to master in order to get this ranged AoE knockdown, I'm thinking that once this skill gets taken away from us, a lot of pistoleers are going to be untraining.

I know for sure that I won't bother with getting master pistoleer. I'll master my secondary skills because the small bonuses to speed, accuracy, etc, just isn't worth training worthless skills like the entire tactics line.

Well, if they do in fact remove the knockdown effect from disarming shot 2, then there is really no reason to master this profession.

Our best attacks come from the Pistol Stances and Grips line, and the only move worth having under the spec abilities line is Melee Defense 1, which is only the first box (Melee Defense 2 isn't even a knockdown, so seems utterly pointless to me).

I suppose you could raise the Markmanship line too, but from what I've seen the speed and accuracy bonuses aren't noticable enough to justify the grind... just my opinion though /shrug
