Thread: Target Practice and Pistol Tricks

When people train on firearms here on Earth, they generally shoot at targets.

In the game we should be able to setup a 'target range' to use for practice, instead of killing animals.

There would be no combat XP with this.

You could create 'practice range' in your crafting tool, taking some inorganics and hides.

What you get in your output hopper is a lot like a camp kit. It's just a stand with a target and bullseye's.

If the devs got really fancy we could use bottles or maybe metal targets that have an animation. Maybe we could even have clay pigeons (or clay nunas).

You then back off and shoot at the target. You get pistol, carbine, or rifle XP commenserate with the distance from target and the spot you hit on the bullseye.

Since people get XP for 'practice' crafting, I don't see any problem with practice shooting.

Sure, there's no risk, but then there's no combat XP, there's nothing to harvest, and its a little boring compared to fighting a Sqill or whatever.

But for people who don't like to kill animals just for target practice it's a good idea. I know they're polygons but this is RP.

Also another idea is trick shots. We have all these animations in the game like /dance /vomit /laugh. If you're a master pistolieer you should get /trickshot. I would LOVE it if this was employed during combat. Basically you have /healtshot /bodyshot, etc., but then you have /trickshot. When used you get less of a chance-to-hit than normal, but you do something like turn your back to the target, raise your hand over your head, then point backward and blast it. Or you shoot from behind your back, or you shoot something from under you leg.

Also, for starting combat, how cool would it be if your gunslinger is standing there and you target a demon running toward you. You use trickshot and the gunslinger stands there with his hands empty and feet apart, balanced, then reach for their 'holster' (the gun then appears) and fire. If target goes down you blow on the barrel or something.

Hopefully once the game is working as it's supposed to they'll keep the devs on the job and put some filler like this into Pistolieer.

Not that I'm loving pistolieer already.

I love that idea. Practice ranges should exist. Make it like how entertainers get xp. Constant use of specials modifies how much experience you get, and the longer you do it, the better you get. great for those intro levels where you cant kill a thing as a brawler too.

Then you just stand there with a macro or soemthing and leave your computer. Come back 24 hours later or longer, and voila, tons of XP...

Not gonna happen.

You didn't read his post. He said you would have to craft settable "targets." As far as I know, there is no craft macro, and I'm pretty sure there are no inventory macros. Sure you could spend an hour crafting targets, THEN execute a macro, but I'm sure your time would be better spent on mobs.
