Thread: A couple of things I learned about weapons

Figured I'd post my findings here, although some of you may already know this.

As most of you I'm sure, I've created quite a collection of weapons for use in different situations. Some weapons inevitably have been used more than others, and being someone who tries to get the most bang for his buck, I've been carrying around a weapons repair kit for when it came time to bring my weapon back from the dead so to speak.

As your weapon degrades, so does its stats. My FWG5 pistol was down to 30-102 from its sliced stats of 58-178 by the time I got it down to 65/1000.

Upon successfully repairing said weapon, I realized that its sliced status was gone. It is now what it was when I bought it, minus 50 quality. I have yet to try and re-slice it. My assumption is that it will not be possible, but I'm going to give it a whirl anyways to be sure.

Just thought I'd share this with the rest of the community!

I saw this with my scout blaster once it got below 100/1000. repairing it did return the values to their pre-damaged stats. BUT,mine was sliced for speed. so no idea if the damage bonus from slicing will be repaired.

I've not heard of that, Ransom. Very interesting. Does anyone have any further information?

I think it's only when the weapon falls below 25%. My scout blaster i've been using as a blunt weapon is at 125/1000 and has only lost 5 damage on both ends. Interesting though, i wonder if it's permanent or if repairing will bering it back up.

Hmm as far as I've always been told, once a weapon is sliced it becomes un-repairable. Can anyone verify this as I have several sliced weapons but have yet to wear one down to needing repair.

I have an fwg5 that has been sliced for dmg. I have used a weapon repair kit on it twice now, both times when it was at around 40%, and have not had a reduction in anything other than it's max condition. Maybe it has something to do with what condition % you repair your weapon at. /shrug

Anyways, that's my 2cp....errrr 2creds i mean

why would you want to wait until your weapon got down to 100/1000 before repairing?

i was told (and this could easily be wrong) that you are more likely to have a poor repair job the more you let the condition deteriorate.

Yes, stats go down on weapons and armor as soon as you go below the 10 or 25% range...once you hit that zone the chances of failure when repairing either seem to shoot up too. I've observed this with stuff sliced and unsliced.

I've seen armor effectiveness drop as the condition drops as well.

I think that repair chance is a flat percentage. Armorsmith board has discussions on this from time to time, and the concensus appears to be that it's just random, so wait as long as possible before repairing.

I had never heard of repairing not returning a weapon / armor piece to it's original stats (except for a drop in max condition) - so that could be a bug.

Sliced items have always been repairable in my experience and I haven't heard otherwise.

EVENTUALLY, like so many things in this game... they may actually fix / improve repairing so that things like a higher quality repair kit and / or a repair kit with the optional components actually matters. But at this point the game is in simple mode. Almost everything is A * B = percent chance, or A * B * C = percent chance... very simple equations.

Well, I tried to have the gun sliced and as I suspected, it wouldn't take.

This may be a bug, it may be as intended. Who knows.

If in fact the stats of weapons start to deteriorate after 25% or even 10%, its something to look out for. Those of us who want to get the biggest bang for our buck would inevitably prefer letting the weapon drop to 1/1000 before repairing it if at all possible. If, however, it comes with the pricetag of permanent stat loss (the slice) ...

At the very least its something to look out for. I'll do some testing on this, now that I know its an issue, and would hope that others might do the same so that we can all better gauge what the "best time" for repairing a weapon is.
