Thread: Action dropping like a rock.

Is it normal that my Action bar drops like a rock when spamming styles?

I am a Master Pistoleer Rodian with:
Action: 800 (1200)
Quickness: 600 (1000)
Stamina: 850
(Numbers in brackets are for when I am using BB (Booster Blue))

The only armor I wear is a MK3 shield.

I open with a Health 1/2 macro and Spam Fan Shot if I can or Stopping Shot if using Fan would be a bad idea.

With a DX2, kneeling, and under the influence of BB I will still run out of action in a long fight.
With other weapons it is not as bad but I still have to use BB or I have to take breaks and just auto attack as I regen my action.

I gave up novice medic to master Pistoleer (I am a MCH, Ranger 0/0/3/0 also) and so I have not noticed just how bad it is until now. I would just '/heal self' every so often and keep fighting.

Is this normal?

Thanks

Yes, thats rather normal, but it can all be avoided if you do one thing: buy some tatooine sunburn. Then you will have no more worries when it comes to spamming specials. An alternative food combo that would also mitigate HAM costs is Ryscate/Breath of Heaven, or you could just find a master doctor and get some buffs that way. Hope that helps!

HAM costs are a problem. You're going to run out of action if you're a Master Pistoleer.

For many months I too did not have Novice Medic, because I had the Master Pistoleer/Expert BH combo, which only left me with 13 skill points. Here's how I managed it:

1) Be buffed by a Doctor constantly (I was buffed at least 80% of the time -- group with a Doctor or at least visit one before going out)

2) Use HAM cost powerups. If you don't have Medic, these are lifesavers. I used 30% Action/15% Mind powerups a lot.

3) Use food/spices. I'd use Tattooine Sunburn if I wasn't sure I'd win a duel, always seemed to work wonders.

4) If need be, change your tactics to shoot less. If I was in PvE, didn't have a healer around, and was unbuffed, sometimes I would do a little bit of bleed-and-kite with the mob just to give my action a chance to regen.

I hope this is helpful.

I do BB bacause we have a pusher... er Smuggler in our guild.

Thanks, I will get me a few crates of Sunburn. I tried it when I was little and I loved it, the cost was a bit much so I stopped. I think I can afford it now.

From the looks of things, this will all be changing in a few months. No spamming of styles. But I need something NOW. hehe

You may also want to migrate some points into your action secondaries, Quickness and stamina regulate your action use/special and regen rates respectively. Not as big of a result as spice, but it wont run out and leave you high and dry if you forget to check yer watch.

Ok, the Tat Sunburner is not doing it for me. I just don't have the mind (Rodian if you recall)

M700/F400/W450. The Sunburn hits my Focus for 85 points and instead of my Action dropping like a rock it is my Mind.
I have a helm and was thinking of using it on the off chance I got into PvP (off chance = Hell temp less than 32F) but I have the same mind problems with it.

I will look into HAM reduction powerups. (My wife makes my powerups and she is going to see what she can do).

Thanks guys for the feedback, it is a great help.

Appreciate it.

If your concerned about your focus when consuming a tatooine sunburn, you only need to find another food which boosts focus. Ryscate (sp?) will boost focus as well quickness as stamina. Glazed Glucose Plates boosts Mind and focus and a small cost of constitution. There are many other foods/drinks that can help as well. Remember, you can ussually consume 2 food/2 drink/1 spice at any given time, and that will go along way towards extending your life in combat, as well as allow you to spam specials with impunity. Hope that helps!

The best way would be to drop ranger/master scout and only keep 4-0-4-0 in scout. Invest it in medic. As a former mon cal master pistoleer my only other option was a full doctor buff.

Once you have a crate of high end Stim Cs and healing bonuses ham becomes a distant thought =)

I have this problem as well. I can spam Stopping Shot each second and the fifty cost (if I wear my comp gloves, comp boots, and PSG) runs me done quick. I have had the doc buffs, then my mind drops as well. The best bang for the buck is to Forage for a "Flur ce Onion" or the foraged Muon Gold. The Onion gives you a +500 to mind for 60 seconds with no side effect. I rarely spice, tried it a couple of times and thought it was great until I began to puke for like 2 minutes. The sunburns are great and if you use them alot just lower some of your secondaries to make up the 85 point hit.

Eat two ryshcates and one breath of heaven. Strength, quickness and focus will all be over 1300. You can then use anything with zero ham cost.

Or if you have low mind use glazed glucose (food) and tat sunburn (drink).

It is good to see some wise words, ignore everything else and listen to this poster. This is the best option and should be your only to consider.

I'm pretty sure the problem is universal to pistoleers, but be thankful it's not all your HAM bars like a carbineer or your mind bar like a rifleman. Looks to me like your secondary stats are really good for your action bar. I don't think changing those is going to help. My action bar takes a dive too, but I've got no stamina so I just keep stims on hand. My best advice would be to pop an action cost reducing powerup on your DX2 if it doesn't already require a powerup to be effective. If it does I'd use it sparingly and try to use a scout blaster as much as possible (they can be powered up to do more damage). Scouts have, by far, the lowest HAM costs of any pistol.
