Thread: Why do I suck?
Okay, here's the deal: I am a 0-0-2-1 Pistoleer, a 3-3-3-3 Brawler, a 4-4-4-3 Medic and I can't solo a fargin' thing over a yellow dot. Not only that, I get my arse handed to me everytime I am in a PvP encounter. Certainly, I am doing something wrong...and that could be that I am not playing the game right and failing to take advantage of my skills and special shots...it could also be that I have poor equipment...however, when I visit weaponsmith vendors, no one is offering the mythical Krayt pistols or Republic Blasters that I keep hearing about. Who is selling these weapons and where can I purchase them? It's getting kind of old running around doing missions from the terminals, but I am not strong enough to finish the Reb Theme Park (multiple Stormies are too much for me to deal with) nor was I able to get the Act II badge (see my previous multiple Stormy problem). So, any advice to an obvious profession dabbler and what I can do to handle more difficult missions? Am I too spread out profession wise to be effective in the grand scheme of things? Any advice would be much, much appreciated.....

Here are a few suggestions:
1.)Buy good armor! Then make a macro to equip itwhen those creatures get in striking range I reccomend a high kinetic resist advanced ubese suitfor pve, when pvping use composite.
2.) Wear a shirt with +13 to warcry/intimidate.
3.) Intimidate the creatures before they get to you. This will cut damage considerably.
4.) Try using pistol whip on creatures followed by /warcry1, they will stay down longer.
5.) Get a low level pet to tank for you. I reccomend the mountain krevol.
6.) Use a damage sliced/damage powered up pistol to stack healthshot 1 and 2 when opening the attack.
7.) On NPCs (like tuskens) force them to melee with you. Intimidate, then use your 1 hand Dizzy attack, once it sticks KD with pistolwhip. Then blast away. They will rarely get up from a KD/Dizzy.
8.) Try some different types of food. Ryshtake, Breath of Heaven, Fishtak Surprise and Tatooine sunburns work wonders.
9.) Since you have Pharmacology IV buy some advanced stim Ds experimented to 40 med use. Contact doctors and ask them the stats on thier medicines. I found some stimDs with 40 med use that have over 800 power. I love them. Since oyu have FA IV as well you will heal for 2000 damage in one shot with them.
10.) When all else fails get a full set of dotor buffs.

The previous poster gave some awesome PvE tips. If you follow his advice, you won't have any trouble with PvE. I soloed Dark Troopers to get the unarmed Brawler line for a Holo profession, and it was easy. I used advanced Ubese armor + Doctor and Musician buffs, then I used both bleeds (HealthShot1 and 2) and walked up to the creature and used bezerk with my speed-sliced vibroknuckles.
In PvP, you'll be toast with the template you have. You need to get more combat skills to survive in PvP. Sad, but true. A Novice Brawler/Novice Pistoleer is going to lose in PvP and there's not much you can do there besides get the best weapon and armor you can find, stay buffed, and heal with well-experimented stims.
1. Sneak up at max range on a single or non social MOB
2. go prone
3. Healthshot1 and2 until they stick. The MOB won't notice you with the health shots until they do dmg.
4. Bodyshot2 until they run at you, warning shot then /peace when/if it sticks.
5. move away from them post up(heal if you can)and wait for he bleed to damg. them and make them go aggro again or start bodyshot2 from far away
6. bodyshot2 until they get close warningshot, and repeat if you have to, or pistolwhip1 ans bodyshot2 until dead.
sometimes I will just warning shot then mount up and kite them till death, works well with slow creatures.
