IMO theyre one of the weakest weapons. i carry one around simply because i always have a bag of pistols on me that i use to combat different resists when i am PVEing... but why on earth would anyone use these in PVP. why do people spend so much money on prenerf ones?

even if your enemy is wearing a suit ofweak 50% base composite, its going to cut the damage on an FWG5 down to a mere 25%. if they have ranged dmg mitigation 3 itll be cut down even more due to the wide range between min-max damages.

im not flaming FWG5s -- i know a lot of people are very attached to their prenerfs. i just dont see why theyre so popular, or why people think theyre so good in PVP. the big argument seems to be 'a lot of people still run around in pvp without armor'. well, all the more reason to use that republic blaster or dx2 since the AP1 translates to bonus damage to unarmored.

if they are wearing armor, then use your dx2. few people have 80+ base on their armor or 80% acid as a special, so youre much better off with the AP1 and acid damage than with your dinky AP0 heat rounds bouncing off their composite. as for stats? i have a republic (non-krayt) that does over 400 max damage with a powerup, and a dx2 that is nearly as good. while youre at it, grab a goodgeo pistol (shameless plug: 410 -5320 by coronet). you can get them with better stats than a prenerf fwg5 and they do stun damage. even if your opponent is wearing a full suit of stun armor (very few people wear stun and most seem to think they can get away with just a stun helm) youll still do more damage than with an fwg5.

PVE i understand. but PVP? why? please help me understand why many people think they are so uber in PVP. as for PVE -- well, at the rate i go through pistols in PVE id rather just settle for a bit less damage at 1/100th the cost. its not like the NPC or creature is going anywhere.. lol. 1-2 extra shots and itll die just the same.

In PvP? I dunno either, cause I sure never use it in PvP. But use one all the time in PvE. And until you get into Pistoleer or BH, its the best blaster for speed and damge out there. I used it exclusivly in PvE until 2222 pistoleer. started using the DX2, and Republic Blaster once they fixed it.

And I don't know what people are talking about with the prenerf crap. I had really good ones back before nerf. I can buy ones that are TWICE as good now. I just bought one, 70-201 dmg, 1.7 low HAM, 20% wounds. And that's unsliced. Never saw one that good prenerf. I can spam any pistoleer specials and fire at speed cap with that gun.

I bloody agree with you. It seems the attachment to the FWG5 remains because it used to be a hand-
cannon. I only carry one if i'm fighting a guy who is unarmored or for PvE. I guess hitting poor
wookiees with them will do also I got much love for my furry friends.

Pre-Nerfs were good because they could be krayt'd now they can't, I saw some sick FWG5s, .7 speed 280max dmg no powerup or slice, they were great. Personally I want to get my hands on an old krayt launcher pistol

I've been wondering why people love FWGs so much too. I'm guessing its because of the damage factor. Pre-nerf, it had the highest max damage of any pistol. If a person doesn't understand armor/resists, they're probably just attracted to the bigger damage number.

I did have one use for my 1.4 speed, 310 max damage (sliced, no pup) FWG5 the other day. Just a friendly duel with someone else while we were both unbuffed and unarmored waiting for a shuttle. I demolished him. I'd never hit someone with 1000+ damage before in PvP (using Last Ditch) so that was kinda cool. Otherwise it just stays in my backpack usually and I use my DX2 or Republic Blaster (depending on resists).

prenerfs will always be alot better then the current ones. seeing you could get 300+dmg prior to the slice using nice tissues. you just wont come close to that now. ive got a few of em on display at my house, fwg5's n scatters in the upper 300's. dont think i'll ever use em again either. used 1 of my lower ones, a 282max 1.3spd( that was a speed sliced gun) to grind her up pistoleer pretty fast

Perhaps in the fact that a Master Pistoleer has all damage types except Blast(Commando), Cold, and Electricity.

You forgot the massive spread on the Krayt FWG's. Ranged mitigation3 eats these guns alive.

people are considered vulnerable to all damage types

you don't get a damage bonus when using a weapon armor piercing against unarmored opponents in pvp

Hah, I was using the DX2 even before the FWG5 nerf. It was our only pistol with armor piercing, and I couldn't afford a krayt enhanced weapon. No way no how.

The FWG5.. hmm. Well for starters, it looks pretty nice. It used to be our best PvE pistol. People didn't really understand the importance of armor piercing back then. It has fair accuracy and HAM costs. Damage Mitigation wasn't around then, whichmakes this pistol hurt about as much as a blow dryer. I guess it just seemed practical at the time, and it became the weapon of choice. Some Pistoleers still cling to it. Or perhaps they spent a fortune on the prenerfs and have to justify the purchase by using them, I don't know.

I bought a few prenerf FWG5 pistols myself, but they weren't Krayt. I just wanted some heat damage for me to finish my climb up the skill tree. I bought 3, and I have 2 left unused. Honestly? They are hanging on my wall. Not because they are bad weapons, on the contrary, they are wonderful. I'm just a little emotionally attached to them is all. I've got them mounted as though I could walk up, grab em, and go into some stylish dual weild action.

A guy can dream, can't he?
