Thread: Experience cap question

I have maxed out all my skill points, and don't want to drop my other master profession (Chef) until the last possible moment.

As a novice Pistoleer, how much exp. can I get before I stop collecting pistol experience? Is it 175,000 X 1.5 (262,500) or is it 3 X 175,000 X 1.5 = 787,500? In other words - do all the possible skills that I can train in count towards my experience point cap or is it only one?

If you're a master smuggler, your cap on pistol xp will be 900,000. I know this because I had pistol xp capped at 900,000for a long time as a master smuggler/novice pistoleer (for the speed line, didn't have any other lines).

Right, the pistol experience tables from Smuggler are actually identical with the ones from Pistoleer. After you get a tier 4 Pistol Experience skill from either tree, the cap is 900k. I think our Combat Experience caps at 300k.

It's double of your next hightest skill box, meaning at novice it's 350k, after first 500k, then 700k and 900k unless you already have a higher skill in another profession with the same experience for example if you are master smuggler, meaning you have dirty fighting 4, your cap will be 900k even at novice pistoleer.

This system seems to work for most (all) non-starting professions.

I got a question that has to do with this. Is it more efficient to max your xp before you learn new skills? I thought it was because as you gain skills, you recieve less xp per mob right?

I think exp. per mob is constant - it's just that you need more exp. to climb up to the next skill.

However, spending the exp. as soon as you can gives you more abilities, making it easier for you to kill things faster and therefore gain experience faster. So all things equal, I'd spend my points as soon as I could.

In my particular case, I want to hang onto an existing profession for as long as I can before droping it to learn my pistoleer & TKA skills. Therefore I'll bank 900K of each (I'm a master at meditiation too) and when I level up, I'll become a TKA (4/2/2/2) and Pistoleer (1/1/2/1) right off the bat.

Well, whatever you do....make sure you do not drop any boxes from dirty fighting before training all your pistoleer skills you want, because if you do, you will lose xp when you train your first box.

so if you have 900k xp (from still having dirty fighting 4)

if you drop dirty fighting 4 to dirty fighting 3 then train any of the boxes in pistoleer.....your xp will drop to 700k....you will lose 25k at this point....but if you drop all of dirty fighting 4 before training in the next pistoleer box you will drop to 350k xp and you will lose 325k xp.

This happens because since the cap on xp is always double the highest box you have trained (175k for a first level pistoleer box)....you xp will drop from 900k to 725k (you lose 175k from training one box in pistoleer), then since that level 1 box is now your highest box, your xp cap will drop to reflect that (which will be 300k)......so you lose 325k.

I know because it happend to me...I thought since I had 900k xp saved up, that I could drop all of my skills to temporarily do another profession (holo grinding) and come back and train all the way up to pistoleer 0-1-2-3. Well, I was very disappointed when I lost894kxp (I had dropped all pistoleer and pistol line of marksman).....

Just to confirm that it was not only becuase I had dropped all of my skills, I tried it again with fencer...except this time, I kept the whole 1 handed line in brawler and sure enough when I trained novice fencer, I went from 900k to 300k 1 hand xp.

It really sucks that they take away your xp that you worked so hard to get...I mean it's not like you got all that xp for free....the devs seem to always find a way to take something from us while giving nothing in return.....but as everyone has already said, you can get by without losing any xp as long as you have another profession that uses the same xp maxed at box 4...

Combat xp is a little different....as long as you have a combat profession, you will never lose much, if any at all, combat xp....because all professions use combat xp.....I just feel for the professions that have xp exclusive to only thier profession...ala musician, ID, BE, WS, AS....etc.
