The Carbineers had this to ask:
The Carbineer profession is unarguably the weakest ranged combat profession in SWG. Even with recent attention to some of our more long standing problems Carbineers still are on the lowest end of the power spectrum, while we expect this to be addressed in the combat rebalance it has been noted with each progressive publish more high end and new pistols and rifles come into the game when comparatively it is the Carbineers who need the special attention a bit more. What in terms of development time and effort is being put forth to provide Carbineers with the comparable attention Pistoleers and riflemen have seen in terms of new weapons, when can we expect to see new weapons developed and implemented in live for our profession?
Where are these high end pistols? The DE-10 might be ok but is incredibly slow. The only redeming trait might be the rebalance. That remains to be seen. I have played a Carbineer on a different sever (Kettemoor is my home) and would strait kick my master pistoleers rear even though the Carbineer was novice. The damage difference was so large. Really makes a difference. Missions were so easy with... But my loyalty is to pistoleers so ny main character has remained such since July... waiting for fixed specials and better damage.
Keeping fingers crossed for the rebalance and a master slot for duel-wield.
No one go off the deep end, but we all know every class *knows they are the weakest... BH Jedi and TKM being exceptions, just funny reminder.

well, they haven't really been getting any new carbines, so i suppose anything new is considered high-end. or something.
i AM glad that TH indirectly disputed, saying we are worst ranged profession 
ifwe're going to be gimped, i'd at least want us tobe assertive and famous for it!

at least we don't have rifleman purist's dilemma of being a veteran with a bunch of n00bs just trying the flavor of the month...
we know our pistoleers are true to the profession or just dabblers- with the new DE-10 pistol, we'll be able to more easily differentiate between the purists and dabblers 
also a lot of carbineers are screaming for a stun carbine..... kind of funny if you ask me, and i would be more than happy to urge the devs to give it to em.... if we got some specials fixed like they did

This is funny.. when I decided to master marksmen because it went well with smuggler and pistoleer I was shocked at the max damage I was getting from carbines... I got the entry level carbine (the one you are certified for with novice marksmen... dh17 carbine or something.. I dont really remember because when I mastered marksmen I stopped using carbines) and it was as good damage wise as my republic blaster that I was so proud of. Well over 200 max damage and that was the entry level one... has anyone seen an unsliced unkrayted dl44 over 200 max damage. My best dl44 that is unsliced and unkrayted is a little over 150.
I found carbines to be very easy to level with espesially with there random state effects with the specials.. I never got a creature dizzy with a pistol. It is funny... I hated rifles though.. what to do when the creature comes running at you and suddenly you cant hit the thing even though its right in fromt of you.
Sure you can get some nice pistols when you use good resources, uber loot (krayt among others), and get them sliced but still regular pistols are very weak compared to others..
