I have played many games where you kill stuff and it's integral to the game, but this is the first one where it was darn near impossible to change targets or even stop attacking. I have been hunting kimas on talus and I can't switch targets to put health shot on all the ones chasing me. This is BS.

tab works pretty well for me. I always make sure that my queue is empty when I need to change targets.

Use your TAB key.

I use tab and have F1 as my attack key, works very well like that.

I have to agree with the original poster. Selection method is too limited. When I'm getting mobbed by a whole nest worth of critters, I want to target what has agro on me fast, not tab through the other 30 mobs 80m away just because they're in field of view. Targetting forward and backward don't cut it for me.

Target nearest and Target Attacking would be welcomed additions to selecting things.

If I have two mobs charging at me and I need to change targets to the closer one, I just click on an open area of the screen. That unselects whatever mob you have selected and then hit the TAB key to select the closest one. You can also unselect a target by hitting the ESC button on the top left of most keyboards.

Is it just me or does TAB only select targets in front ofmy avatar? Like the original poster I have a lot of trouble attacking mobs that are chasing me, and I'd appreciate some clarification.

I generally use the macro /combatTarget it generally resides on tab 1 of the hotkey but I made a macro for it instead of moving it from tab 1 to my current fighting tab. Also since I have a mouse with a thumb button I mapped the thumb button to peace and clear combat que to the center mouse button. Since I play on Starsider as a wookie I've actually been tying text messages to some of my attacks. For instance when I use my combat target macro I wail GRRRRR. An easy way of doing this would be creating a custom macro with the following as the macro string:

/combatTarget;/wail GRRRRRR

Most of my pistol attacks aren't tied to text strings yet but I did tie my unarmed attacks to text strings. Just a little something to be a little different.
