Thread: Best Weapon at Novice and Suggested Tree Progress
Hello. I was wondering what the bets pistol is at novice pistoleer. I obtained that rank a few days ago and have been using a scout blaster.
Next i was wondering what route up the tree people are taking and why. I have almost enough pistol experience for my first tree box and was wondering the direction people have taken and the reasoning behind that direction.
Thanks in advance.
I have a FWG5as my main gun. It's sliced, and does 49-191 dmg, at 2.4 speed. It's a risky gun, because the low rolls stink, but at the same time, it's nice to get on the higher end. I also happen to thing it is by far the best looking weapon in the game (I haven't seen a Lightsaber yet). I have what could be considered a better pistol (it's a DH17, so it is basically a carbine that gives pistol XP), but I don't like the looks of carbines.
As far as which branches to take. It really is a matter of personal opinion. I choose Marksman 1 first, because I choose not to use my combat XP on Ranged support, and am not a master marksman. I felt the need to improve my pistol skills more. Plus I heal people a lot, so the bonus while moving is nice. But I didn't go up to Marksmanship 2, because the pistol accuracy bonus went from +10 in level 1, down to only +5 in 2. So I choose tactics 1 as my second skill. I am going to move up enough to get bodyshot3 at this point. Once I have bodyshot3 I am going to do the entire stances and grips branch to get stopping shot. After that, finish marksmanship and finally get tactics IV.
They key to Pistoleer is to get Special Abilities I, with pistol whip (pistol melee defense I). That's when you can really start taking out big game. That is also why I don't have Ranged Support Specialist at this time.
I am by no means an expert on Pistoleers, as I never tried one in beta. This path just seems logical to me.
Yeah. Dont specialize the Rnaged Weapons Support in MArksman tree. Pistoleer one will come in MUCH more handy. Pistol meelee defense is one of the most useful and best skills you'll learn as pistoleer. Also, I'd go up the Stopping Shot/Fan Shot/Disarming Shot tree first. Overall better skills, (Stopping Shot is just insane, even with NERF) Bodyshot 3 sounds cool, and it is powerful, but you'll find it easier to get the other tree I am talking about first (Grips and Stances) things will go faster with it, and you'll be more satisfied I believe. Just my opinion tho. Thats what I am doing.
