Thread: Pistoleer + Smuggler or Bounty Hunter
I want to focus on combat and I was curious if the bounty pistol skills compare to the smuggler pistol skills. I don't care about having to master 2 starter professions, I just want to know how the two's pistol skills compared to each other. I would only put points into BH Pistol 4 and Tracking 3
If I was a pistoleer would I be better off going one or the other, I heard that with bh pistol and pistoleer, your pistol speed is too fast and your action pool drains quickly. How about the accuracy bonus... does it really matter after you reach Master Pistoleer.
If I go BH then I won't have points left for anything else. Currently my idea is to go Master Pistoleer/Smuggler and train Commando up to Throwing weapons 3. I do not plan on using unarmed combat because I love pistols so TKA is not something I would pursue. For now I am focusing on master pistoleer and maybe once I get that I will focus on my other options. Just let me know what you guys think.
- Smuggler Dirty Fighting Line
- Last Ditch - massive offensive, with a serious delay on firing afterwards
- Low Blow - Knock down to prone
- Panic Shot - Cone of effect, slows down next action on all affected
- Feign Death - PvE effective only FD
- Feign Death +70 total for 4th box
- Bounty Hunter Pistol Line
- Torso Shot - Fire DOT, massive damage, high wound percentage
- Eye Shot - Mind pool shot with pistol, nuff said
- Bleeding Shot - Health DOT and health regen cripple, high wound percentage
- Scatter Pistol Cert - decent pistol usable only by BHs
- Pistol Speed + 50 total for 4th box
- PIstol Accuracy +50 total for 4th box
It will depend on your play stayle, and on your end goals. The nice thing about the Bounty Hunter line is they are pretty decent in PvE combat. Torso Shot and Eye Shot are just sweet abilities, especially since Eye shot gives you the ability to target a pool commonly targeted only by riflemen. However the requirements for Bounty Hunter leave you so little points to play with, you run the risk of becoming a one trick pony. The smuggler however has such low requirements, and some decent combat moves. Knockdown is just that cool when it works. I personally am going the smuggler route, but it is more for the overall abilities of smuggler and the "coolness" factor of being an underworld wheeler and dealer.
In short, if you want to be a PvE psycho, I'd go with Bounty Hunter, if you want to be a little more well rounded by nature of having more skill options, go Smuggler. Either will compliment the Pistoleer nicely. Also, if you are a group player, do not discount Squad Leader, its a nice mesh with any of the marksmen weapon lines.

Seems like the smugglar class is majorly bugged, just like everything else in this game...so beware...but the real concern is, why does smugglar use pistol exp yet not give you any skill mods for pistol? That is retarded. Sure you get a few more attacks...but no greater accuracy / speed?
No. We definitely do NOT need another profession that gets pistol skill mods other than Pistoleer. It is already really dissapointing that a Master Pistoleer is aless accurate and slower shootingpistol user than a Master BH who has no Pistoleer skill. If Smugglers got pistol skill mods, we could have partial BH/Smuggler hybrids who had no pistoleer who were insanely better than Master Pistoleers. Shouldn't players focusing on a single profession that offers no versatility be better at the skills in it than someone who chooses a route that offers a great deal of other options and play styles?
Well, the only reason most people picked up the smuggler line was for low blow, with the new knockdown nerf it's probly not as effective so I'd say BH
Knockdown is still fairly effective.
You know..in the hint book, Disarm 2 (master pistoleer) is listed as having a knockdown effect....I wonder if it's a misprint, or it just didnt' get implemented yet.
How is knockdown an effective thing? Wouldn't it just give the enemy extra accuracy by going into a crouch?
