Thread: Pistol, special moves, powerup tradeoffs?

I use bodyshot2 a lot. I've heard that burns up your weapon faster, and I believe it. I took my brand new blaster from 1000 to 550 yesterday alone. I assume that not using specials will save the life of the pistol, but it takes longer to kill my opponent, so I burn up more stimpacks and powerups. What's the better tradeoff here iyho?

Pistols are cheap, use the specials and speed up the rate that you get XP, resources and money. Then buy a new pistol.

I was under the impression that using specials (non-overcharge shot) did not effect the durability of your gun. It sounds odd that you dropped over 500 durability in a day, but I haven't looked at my guns recently to check.

Can anyone confirm or deny that Healthshot / Bodyshot reduce weapon durability?

I don't think they do. I use BS2all the time, and in about a 7 hour hunting spree the other day I only lost something between 50-100 condition.

Keep this in mind too, weapons are repairable. I built myself a weapon repair kit and fixed my own weapon (I have engineering skills), my success wasn't great, but was "good", my weapon went from 1000 durability to 950. I guess I can do this a number of times before I worry about it breaking. I'm sure by the time the weapon is in such a condition that I can't repair it anymore, I'll be ready for a better weapon anyway.

I would like to point out that in the description of overcharge shot, it says that it does more damage than normal when used. I think all of the others are the same as not using specials.

A novice marksman using a gun made by a novice artisan will break his gun sooner than a pistoleer using a gun made by a master weaponsmith...

Did a grind a few days ago. Dropped my brand new scout from 1000 to under 250. After 250, it's ability to kill things decreases, so either reapir it or drop it. At the moment, money is easy to get, so picking up a new weapon is easy. However, the proposed changes say that they are going to make it more difficult to obtain money, but for now, just burn it up and get a new one. For most casual players who don't hunt for countless hours a day, yes, do it all, even use overcharge. Chances are that by the time you wear out your quality, there's much better guns on the market, so go pick one up. =)

Oh yes, and slicing. Decreases your quality faster too, but do it. Get a master slicer to do your gun. You won't regret it. Like I said, guns come and go quickly.

Lol. Forgot to post about the topic about specials. No, it doens't seem like specials affect the quality any more than regular shooting. (with the exception of overcharge)

I'm not a pistoleer yet, I actually just hit pistol 4 two days ago, but I have noticed that OverchargedShot1 does considerably more damage to my weapon than to BodyShot2, or even BodyShot1. I have a theory that the higher level "special" moves actually do decent damge to opponents while minimizing the damage to your weapon. Also the amount of damage done may have something to do with the durability expiremented into the weapon. Just some thoughts, in my opinion I'd say buy a couple 2k-3k pistols and go to town with special moves.....maximize your exp and cashflow :-)

Ok using special shots minus overcharge does not make your pistol degrade faster. What does is

#1 Getting it sliced

#2 using powerups

#3 if you get it sliced and use your powerups on it see ya condition. I burned an entire gun out in One day hunting on Yavin 4 because I had a sliced FWG5 and was using powerups constantly.
