About to start Smuggler and I'm a Master Artisan so by time I Master Smuggler I will have 38 skill points to spend. Which means I can only get 4's in two trees but which?

From what I've read 0-0-4-0 should be 1 but where should I put the other?

4-0-4-0

0-4-4-0

0-0-4-4

0044, you'll want the speed.

My money would be on the Speed tree and the Accuracy tree, which I believe would be 0404

If I recall, the one you mention is the Techniques tree, which, while having the state defenses, isn't all that great if you have Dirty Fighting 4

I was a Master Pistoleer for some time, and I can honestly say I very, very rarely used the Pistoleer specials

Having dropped Triple Master for Master Fencer and only keeping 0304 in Pistoleer, I almost beat a Master Carbineer in a range duel t'other day

Fan shot is good and all, but I'll always be a Last Ditch man

that's 0/0/4/4 for the speed and fan shot tree.

this would be the best idea for the ranged mit 2.

I'd say 0 4 0 4 also.

There's nothing in the techniques tree you'll miss that much.

hmmm... in your situation I don't know... playing from a pvp angle i've liked 0440 the best when combined with Dirty Fighting and a melee skill (TKM myself). Since I try to fight in melee range as much as possible the speed isn't as much of an issue as sticking specials is (mostly low blow, prevously also panic shot so I can get into range faster and safer).

In your template though you really wont need technique's defenses as much, nor the geo cert, so you might be better off with 0404 so you get a nice fast accurate panic shot.

I dunno... try them all

If you have other good specials to use, and don't care about pistoleer specials to much, go marksman and what ever the far right tree is for the speed. Marksman gives you the accuracty mods. So with accuracy and speed you'll be hitting pretty good.

If you want the cool specials in pistoleer, I say marksman and techniques. I say still get marksman over the speed tree, cause it doesn't matter how fast you MISS.

i agree..... although the last tree also has the one other working special for us and lots of melee defense

you need to pick one, offense or defense, and for offense go 0440, for defense, go 0044

You might wanna consider going 0404 to get the speed an accuracy bonuses. But I REALLY like fanshot. It totally kicks lastditch's butt because lastditch is too dang slow. For PvE, fanshot and lowblow are a GREAT combination.

It really depends on what you want to do with your character. If you want to do any PvPing drop artisan and finish Pistoleer off. But then again, Pistols aren't too good in PvP period

Healthshot 2 is pretty kickbutt for PvE even without fanshot. But I REALLY like fanshot.

accuracy or speed. if your smuggler then you might want speed for last ditch, you aint gonna hit much.../shrug. or you can hit a little better just not as fast... when i was grinding (master smuggler master pistol) i went all speed for pve. i feal no threat in pve grinding so who cares if i miss. just get the damage down to target asap. pvp..... you better make sure your shots count. 30 misses dont mean squat. well wait a minute we're pistoleers one hit aint gonna do squat either. /flail

i am smuggler, fear my cork guns
episode II: i am no longer smuggler i no longer fear the cork guns or the delay on the delay for the revamp.. leave a message after the beep when revamp comes and then i shall return. but then maybe i will show them and do a delay on my return.. ha!!! take that soe (if they have not frustrated me more then i already am)

If you're a smuggler, I would recommend doing either 4040 or 4004. Dodge is a wonderful thing for a gunfighter. Fanshot is also an excellent, high damage special. To be honest, I didn't really see any major speed changes until master, so I would personally go with a nice speed sliced/speed powered pistol. I've always been a fan of the DL44 and Scout pistol for most situations. Low HAM costs mean you won't destroy your Action pool, quick speed means you'll be able to fire more shots. In a pinch, a republic blaster, DX2, and maybe even an SR combat pistol are good when the target is armored. Being a packrat, I also carry a striker pistol, a tangle pistol, and an FWG5 to round out the damage types I can use. Accuracy isn't really an issue in PvP if you select your weapon smartly (AKA: do no use that republic blaster in point blank)
