Thread: Novice Commando worth it for the Launcher Pistol?

I just thought I'd ask everyones opinion, is Novice Commando worth getting for the Launcher Pistol aka a blast damage weapon? As of now I'm a Master Pistoleer with BH Pistol IV and am having a wonderful time, but being able to do blast damage would have its positives. Just thought I'd get the opinions of you guys before I do something drastic.

Master Marksman does have its benefits in and of itself.. minor speed & accuracy bonuses, and near as I can tell the developers are thinking about beefing up the Basic Master boxes. So who knows, it might become more attractive in the future.
So if you get Master Marksman (questionable worth right now, but sort of nice), then getting Novice Commando requires you to blow 29 more skill points on Unarmed skill, and then the final 6 more on Novice Commando. All for an AP0 Blast damage Pistol, but it has some pretty nice damage on it. Not earth shattering, but nice. Keep in mind that there is no gaurantee that the Launcher Pistol will still be usable with Pistol skill mods after the Combat Balance - at least I wouldn't count on it 100%. Maybe it will, maybe it won't.
On the other hand, if you were to do this, you are lined up for an easy access to both the TKA Meditate skill line and Smuggler pistol attacks, and all the wholesome goodness that comes with it.
So really, getting Novice Commando for the Launcher might not be 100% worth it in and of itself, but it opens up a variety of template options. And of course, you benefit from the prerequisite of Master Marksman.

I believe right now unless you are a rebel that likes to attack AT-ST's, the launcher pistol is of dubious value.

I did Master Pistoleer, Commando Flame 4, TK Meditate And Defenses (4004), and smuggler dirty fighting. This combo worked pretty good, nice in most situations, so if youre gonna take commando for the LP which is good for turrets and walkers, definitely take up tk and/or smuggler with it.

my next template will actually be
master pistoleer, novice commando, 0040 smuggler, 4304 teras kasi, and i have 9 skill points left over to throw somewhere..... i would really like to keep medic but oh well, if the launcher becomes commando only then it won't be that hard of a decision to make lol
also i really do hope that master marksman will be much more desirable..... i think since it was a prereq for bounty hunter and commando they made it not so useful since they figured everyone who mastered it was doing one of those anyway- i would like to see it (significantly)help out rifleman/carbineers/pistoleers as well

you can maaster commando in like maybe 10 hours if you mastered pistoleer first and save up combat xp (use LP) by camping the top of the GEO caves.
ALSO if your a rebel and like to kill ATST's and TURRETS, well then perhaps getting novice commando is the thing for you also. I dropped my flame tree so im at novice commando again personally (rogue/m pistol/4040 scout/4000 brawler) its a very versatile PVE setup, as i have all of the available damage types that can be used with pistols, but PVP would be better mixing with tk or fencer or BH pistols. IT really depends on what specificalyl your looking to do.
