Be Both! My current template is Master Pistoleer/ Master Rifleman/ BH 0044 and plan on getting Enhanced Reflexes 1300 with my last 4 SP's. So far alot of fun using all the pistol specials with the Rifle and vise versa with the most powerfull weapons in each class.

IMO about the "Great Debate" is, all weapons are created equal. They have their benefits and their negatives. With pistols I personally take a lot more damage. With Rifles I didn't. With pistols I have less time to decide what I want to do. With Rifles I've got more time. With pistols I see more action. Rifles, I just laid prone and just pretty much auto-attacked pre-cu. For Squad Leader, there are more pistols than rifles. Same with Carbines. With pistols, I get a better accuracy when I'm up close and personal with something. Rifles at a 2m range?! Ha, yeah right. But I'm currently a pistoleer, I may change to rifles when rifles gets fixed because as a Squad Leader, I can either attack or use my specials and if I go to rifles, I will be more out of harms way to get the rest of my team out of there alive, regardless of what happens to me.

As for Carbines? They just are, good at longer range and shorter range, pretty good damage. From what I've seen thus far, they just are.
