Thread: Is pistoleer strong/quick enough without stacking BH or smuggler???
Great idea for a template, but personally, you're buffs from 0-0-0-4 doc won't really be anything worth helping you. If you really feel like picking up a line in doc, go for the wound heal tree, since it seems so rare these days to find a doc to heal them. Otherwise, dump into smuggler or something that gives general ranged speed and accuracy bonuses.
I like the Smuggler/Pistoleer combo, which was the first combo I ever had, before I went into experimenting with other things. The status effects between Pistoleer/CM is very nasty, plus you get all the pistoleer speed and accuracy enhancements for the master CM pistol, which it's name eludes me atm. Early warning though, I've noticed, at least for myself that once a master CM agros a target or heals a tanker, for some reason the target willoften come after the CM, reguardless to whether it's still being tanked or not.

The buff line is useful for two things... the Combat Speed buff and the action increase and regen buff. The combat speed buff adds A LOT of speed, it makes my Master Pistoleer recover from specials a great deal faster and the action regen buffs stacked with chef and spice regen buffs lets you use a lot of specials.
Because the Combat Speed buff is only about 15 minutes you either have to have this skill or have a Doc following you about to reapply it.
I find the buffline very useful, you also get health and mindincrease and regen buffs.
The wound heal line isn't worth taking it just to heal peoples wounds as you can do that with Novice Doctor, a looping heal wound macro and a bit of time.
I've got 1/0/0/4 Doc for the buffs, bacta infusion, bacta jab and wound heal, and then 4/4/0/3 CM for more heals, DoT's and Electrolyte Drain.
With a damage capped pistol you can buff your speed to be able to fire quickdraw and body shot with these delays. (damage numbers are approximates for information)
12:00:00 You use Quickdraw on [blah] for 900 damage
12:00:01 You use BodyShot on [blah] for 1000 damage
12:00:03 You use Quickdraw on [blah] for 900 damage
12:00:04 You use BodyShot on [blah] for 1000 damage
12:00:06 You use Quickdraw on [blah] for 900 damage
12:00:07 You use BodyShot on [blah] for 1000 damage
12:00:09 You use Quickdraw on [blah] for 900 damage
12:00:10 You use BodyShot on [blah] for 1000 damage
pistol by itself lacks imo, probably the poorest ranged profession by itself, but add
getting BH is aBIG improvement to defense, movesand +spd and +accuracy and even the little +terrain negotiation and mask scent are nice for hunting...
...IMO smuggler's not worth it for just combat skills.... so unless you're gonna actually play the role of one...faction buying/selling, slicing,spices, etc...you get only a few valuable combat moves(feign death and last ditch), & too little skill mods and you'll have to 'waste' 29 points in that 1brawler tree to get to novice smuggler

Why do you have trouble getting this to work? It works fine.
Concussion shot from smuggler is supposed to break on damage but doesn't and is currently massively overpowered.

Pistoleer can solo fairly well, but perhaps not as effectively as other professions. We are still fairly low damage, but our specials make up for it. Stopping Shot is incredibly useful, obviously. Intimidate Shot is good, too.
Can a pure pistoleer compete with a person that has 2 combat masteries? Yes, given good tactics and good money for skill tapes. The tapes will make up somewhat for the lack of bonuses from the second profession, but the tactics will determine whether you win or lose. But in a group, you won't be at much of a disadvantage.
