At the moment you have some specials that are very useful but you lack somewhat in the speed department in order to pump out major damage.
I recommend using these specials: (relatively in this order)
Stopping Shot - It is a root and will make your target stay still.
Underhand Shot - Knocks your target down and lowers targets defense.
Quickdraw - Fires quickly and drains action, but it is your heaviest hitter atm.
If you are fighting NPC's throw in a Confusion Shot after your Stopping Shot, it has a chance to dizzy and stun them. Dizzy atm still doesn't work on creatures.
When you get up in Pistoleer and Smuggler, you have other shots that will prove handy:
Fanshot - Good area attack, like always. Good for powerleveling. If you know some jedi that have area attacks, run to the Myyydril Cavern with them and have them area atack cons and you sit back and pick them off, you'll get great xp.
Reckless Shot - Heavy hitter but lowers your defense.
Body Shot - Heaviest hitter I believe.
Concusion Shot - Basically a pumped up stopping shot at the moment.
Last Ditch - Extremely heavy hitter but incaps you 90% of the time, and your health and action must be down to 5% or so in order for it to work properly, truely a last ditch.
Panic Shot - Somewhat works like it use to, prevents something from attacking for a said period of time.
Thats essentially what I use in combat... so hope this helps a lil.
As for what you should go for next, work on Body Shot (4xxx) in pistoleer. It will add damage to your dps and lower your recharge rate also.

Well that dealt with all of my immediate questions. Thanks. Ah, but yet another. I have forgotten about armor type mitigation and atm I think I am getting recon and assault mitigation. What type of armor should i be wearing for pve grinding right now? (low budget btw)
