Thread: Ding, Master Pistoleer!

Just got my final skill, Master Pistol Special Abilities, then went and trained Master Pistoleer.
Getting here sure wasn't half as hard as getting to level 50 pre-Kunark in the EQ days. ![]()
Anyways here's my 250 skill point template (this will probably change after they nerf Creature Handlers some more):
Master Pistoleer
Marksman: Pistol specialist, Expert Ranged Weapon Support Abilities
Master Creature Handler
Scout: Exploration 4, Hunting 4, Survival 1
Medic: First Aid 4, Diagnostics 1, Organic Chemistry 3
*Cry* This is such a beautiful special move. It's amazing, I can take out a whole camp without ever changing targets. It's neat seeing a whole camp die at the same time while never being able to retaliate.
The drawback is I think it uses the indicated amount of HAM pool for every enemy in the cone of fire. So if you are using Disarm Shot 2 ontwo or more enemies, your HAM bar will drop really fast. I suppose it's balanced that way. My Stimpack - A's don't seem to be able to keep up with healing my Action bar if the cone of effect hits too many enemies at once. So basically, just don't try to overwhelm yourself, you're not invincible with this.
It is such a cool move. Get it before it's nerfed! ![]()
I don't like your medic point spendage. Go at least FA2 and Pharm 4 and put any leftovers in diagnostics. You'll find that buying really good Stim C's can give you heals up to like 750 and you can stop your bleeds. Making stims just isn't really worth it when some people devote their character to making the best pharmaceuticals. But I suppose if you want to heal your wounds easily, going a little bit up organic chemistry isn't a bad idea, that is, if you have the points.
Er, thanks for the feedback I guess but personally this is what I like.
I was originally a Master Medic and Surveying 4 Artisan before I started migrating my points toward CH and Pistoleer. I found that it takes too much of my "fun time" away making Stimpack - C's and too many of my available skill points to stay an Artisan (I need all 250 skill points to be Master Pistoleer, Master CH and a partial Medic) and the Artisan Surveying skills are almost required to keep enough Water, Chemicals and Metals in stock to be able to make the components for StimpackC's.
I just use Stimpack As and Wound MedpackAs. I just buy a few thousand Inorganics from the Bazaar and harvest the organics I need from monsters I kill (each monster has around 95-115 hides/bone/meat) and I have a little over 37k of these even after making hundreds of Stimpacks and Woundpacks.
I mainly use Stimpacks as a way to have almost no downtime, not as a mid-combat healing method. I tried being a Doctor for a while and found that really isn't for me. I'd much rather shoot enemies, instead of chasing people around with melee-range Stimpacks all day.
Anyways, First Aid 4 seems to give me the largest heals per Stimpack - A (seems to be around 70-180 health). Diagnostics doesn't really seem to effect my game-style so I just kept it at 1. Pharmacology is really mostly useless unless I'd want to use Stimpack C's, which is really the only reason to get Organic Chemistry 4 (I could care less about havesting the separate resources for Wound Medpack Bs or depending on the Bazaar for them).
With Organic Chemistry 3 I can make all the Wound MedpackAs for each catagory with just the 8 Bazaar-bought Inorganics + 8 harvested Organics. I'd need to be able to keep Water, Chemical and Metal well stocked to be able to make Wound Medpack - Bs and Stimpack - B/Cs and I didn't feel that was worth the effort for my play style (the Bazaar never seems to have allthree resourcesin stock in good quantities, and I don't have enough points to keep the Artisan profession to be able to Harvest the resources myself, which is really dull to start with). Also you need to be in front of a Food and Chemical Crafting Station to be able to make Stimpack Cs which I found inconvienient for long hunting outings. I can go for a full day hunting in the wild with my thousands of Bazaar-bought, cheap inorganics, and the harvested hide/bone I have to make Stimpack and Woundpack As.
If I could go Organic Chemistry 3 and get Entertainer, that's what I'd do but there arn't enough Skill points to distribute. There never seems to be any entertainers in some remote hunting areas like Dathomir (at least on Chilastra in the early hours).
Ha cool, you have the set up I was going for. Master Pistoleer/Master Creature Handler with medic skills. My only question is how the heck are you healing enough while only healing 70-180 a stimpack? I don't have many of my medic skills yet(2 in pharm) but I use great stimpack Bs that let me heal 350-500! I mean don't you ever have to heal your creatures? I am not master yet so I only have a creature with 6k HAM and it would take me forever to heal him with 70-180 points each stimpack use! I assume as a master youhave some hefty critters with around 11k HAM, do you ever heal them? Just doesn't add up. Other than that congrats on your speedy mastership.

Before I got Master Pistoleer I had just gotten Master Creature Handler. When your creatures attack monsters they are basically stealing XP you would have gotten if you do the damage yourself. Before I got the Master Pistoleer title, I just had my pets follow me around in case I got an add or if I got in trouble.
Now that I'm Master Pistoleer I've been working on getting faction points to buy faction perks. I've noticed that if my pets assist me in killing, then I don't get as much faction. So basically I ended up doing the same thing, doing almost all the damage myself, while my pets are on standby in emergencies or to handle excessive adds.
Anyways, no. I don't need to heal my pets much, if at all. They've never really gotten hurt much through the way I play but I have had instances where I do need to heal some other people's pets and yes, it does take a very long time with Stimpack As.
Stimpack As are currently sufficient for healing my personal injuries or filling up my Action bar slowly. But sooner or later I may go back to using Stimpack B or C if resources in the Bazaars become more Medically-friendly.
