I was on dathomir today and managed to single handely kill a rancor but after the lengthy battle I didn't get any xp from it, is this a bug or what?

You have to be within 64m when you kill. Also if you only used bleed shots (Health Shot I/II) you won't get exp

If you bleed something to death without doing any other damage, then you won't get xp. So, mix up your attacks a bit Also, the other poster's comments about the 64m rule are correct as well.

whats even better about the 64m rule is that once the creature is almost dead it heads for the hills. That drives me nuts, or just befor it dies it will teleport far away.

It is more likely you used FWG5 pistol ...

Rancors are immune to fire dmg... and No dmg you see in combat window dosnt mean anything couse it is ressisted 100%.

Use scout blaster and you will get exp.

Also, make sure it wasn't a released pet, i've noticed they just disappear without any exp, probably not but just something to look out for.
