Hi peeps

Just reworking my bounty hunter template a little and thought I would ask the pistoleer community what your thoughts are.

I am aiming for dirty fighting 4 (just need the forth box now) bounty hunter pistol 4 (got) and master pistoleer (not got much of yet)

also got invest 3.

Ok Ive been reading alot how melee pwns pvp is their any point finishing this template or changing master pistoleer to master tka (like everyone else).

Idealy I dont want to be the same as all the others out their though I like pvp and I dont like the idea of going into a duel and getting my butt handed to me on a regular basis.

I hear alot of the specials are a joke and dont work and I see master tks fight and most people spend all their time on the floor before standing up and ending up on the floor again.

Well, sure.

Pistoleer problems are mostly within the pistoleer profession, which is full of broken and redundant specials. Alone, mastering pistoleer is not worth it.

BUT, dabbling in BH pistols gives you more speed, meaning you can fire just about everything at the cap, plus the ability to attack mind. Dabbling smugger gives you probably the best specials you will get for the pistol. And, dabbling commando gives you access to the launcher pistol, or scatter, i always get confused on which is commando and which is BH, but that's a huge plus. I know you didn't mention commando, but figured I'd mention it anyway.

The point is, even though pistoleer is pretty gimped, dabbling in smuggler always made it kind of worthwhile. Now that they've adjusted BH requirements, I'm already seeing a lot of BH pistoleers. It seems to work, but it's relatively new.

It should stand up well, so try it out. Only time will tell if this will be a viable pvp template.

Thx for the feed back, I didnt even think of doing commando and climbing to novice commando with my combat xp not really touched this might be a good investment into launcher pistol.

I was TKM, Master Pistoleer, and Dirty Fighting 4, Duelist (Fencer)

With my pistol speed attachments I did very well in PVP and PVE.

I gave up TKM and my fencer line for BH pistol 4, and nov commando. The "Jack-of-all-Pistols" template.

I honestly think I am weaker all around without my melee skills, but it is alot of fun.

Master Pistoleer gives you much needed defenses and ranged mitigation 3, as well as accuracy and speed mods.

Very worth it in my opinion.

i dont think i could ever drop master pistoleer or TKM... the defenses are amazing... I'd drop master smuggler if it was easier to find one of them in this day and age...

Not that i'm complaining, i kinda like having no competition

I believe if you ever plan on using pistols as your main offense then yes, master the proffesion. If not, just get Tech 2 so you can use the Geo Blaster (I think that is where the cert is, I could be wrong).

Well, I love pistoleer. It has decent defenses, versatile damage types, and contrary to what people may say, we can hold our own in PvP.

We can't hold our own without dabbling in BH or Smuggler. Or did you mean "Hold our own brains after we scoop them off the pavement."?

I agree about stacking pistoleer and TKM. But I'm a smuggler at heart...

To the original poster's question, if you are willing to get some SEAs, Master Pistoleer is a much better set of skills. Giving up BH will lose a fire DOT, eye shot, and great speed and accuracy. However, picking up Master Pistoleer gives very good vs. state defenses, vs. posture change, some melee defense, certs for all but the scatter and launcher, and you still have decent accuracy while moving and reasonable speed.

The SEAs would be speed. Get up to +90 and you can use any pistol special at the cap with a 2.6 weapon or better. You can max out at +99 and that will take care of even the slowest DE-10. If you stack on some dodge SEAs, you will have great active defenses when using a pistol, will be the hardest of the ranged professions to KD (not talking stackers), and will be able to use a geo to fire stopping shot at the cap.

Well to be honest I came into this thread looking for inspiration, but it looks like i'll be dropping some off...

I am BH 3040 andMaster Pistoleer right now and planning to get fencer 0040... I will have INSANE defense vs. dizzy... with little else to my template in terms of defenses. I have heard that def vs. dizzy is the most important as you can just pop some KD food and be all set (except for posture changes... shhhhh)

But at the same time i'm thinking of doing this:

BH 3040, Pist. 1442, Fencer 0440.... the REAL advantages of this template is not only the def. vs. dizzy of +80, but def. vs. KD of 100 and def. vs. posture change +70, AND the ability to use Fencer's center of balance to make sure you don't get hit very often at all. You can still shoot at the speedcap with most every pistol, but will have 10 less accuracy, no accuracy boosts while running, and no accuracy boosts while standing.

While I lament the loss of those accuracy mods... all you have to do is pop some good ol' Citrus Snow Cakes for accuracy... couple that with my +20 in pistol accuracy AA's and I'm completely happy

Oh.. and btw... you are supposedly able to use the center-of-being with a pistol by starting your center-of-being macro with a fencing weapon equiped... switch to your pistol and it stays!!! That's the hope anyways, but this template will be incredibly hard to KD, Posture Change, or Dizzy and be a pain in the ass to hit because of Dodge being amplified by center-of-being!!!!

You would need to make sure you eat dodge food, accuracy food, and synthsteaks (for damage protection)

You can. It seems to make a difference but I haven't done any hard testing. Although in my case, I use unarmed COB but the concept is the same.

I made 2 macros for COB. One for when I'm using ranged and the other for when unarmed. The key I use to switch does a /dump and /ui action clearCombatQueue to clean up a bit. Take your COB mod and add 1 to it. You may need to add .05 or a full second pause for the weapon switch if you are using a ranged weapon. I'm not in the game but it looks a little like...

Macro Name: rcob (ranged COB)

/ui action toolbarSlot16; <-- where my VKs are hotkeyed on my pistol specials toolbar

/pause 0.5;

/centerOfBeing;

/ui action toolbarSlot14; <-- whatever I decided was my main pistol

/pause 31; <-- this is your COB mod +1. Whatever that may be.

/macro rcob; <-- calls itself

Just make sure you quickly have a way to dump the macro and clear the queue. Last thing you need is "You cannot Focus with this weapon" or "You cannot perform that attack with this weapon".

If you don't like it running all the time when using a pistol (I don't particularly), just remove the recursive call and you should be set.

I'm a master pistoleer, master bounty hunter, and I love it. The pistol is my main weapon for killing jedi marks, and with all of the speed, accuracy, dodge, and defensive mods, it works out really nicely, especially that de-10 certification at master. My pistol speed is 126, so that isn't a problem for me
