Hello--

I've been reading this board since I started playing (about two months ago) and now I feel like it's time for me to tap you guys for some advice, thoughts, or help.

I'm a Human on Corbantis. Marksman 0043 (almost 0044) and a Novice Pistoleer 0000. I tried picking up other profesions, but I don't stick with them much as I've oddly developed a one track mind and really want to be a sucessful Pistoleer. I joined a guild a while back and have yet to really take advantage of any perks, although the armorsmith made me a Chitin suit and a nice Comp suit today for when I get buffed--which I have yet to ever do. I use a Republic Blaster which I think is good, but could be crap for all I know. I saved my pennies for days and I just got a Geo blaster, but I can't even use it yet.

I have no house and my inventory is full of odds and ends, mostly crap from Jabba's missons and I have to struggle to keep it down to the essentials. I make money by selling junk, mostly old armor and nonsense that I have no use for on Bazaar terminals for low prices. I've sold two paintings for a couple 100k, but basically, I'm broke. Everytime I think I've outgrown Tatoonine, I try going to other planets like Endor or Dant and just end up getting my butt kicked. So, I go back home and kill garbage, the biggest things being Banthas and a Squill if I'm lucky. Feels pathetic.

Getting anywhere is taking me forever and at this rate, mastering Pistols and seriously establishing myself in the game seems like an impossiblity. I'm trying not to complain, but what am I doing wrong? What tips do you have for a guy like me who is struggeling. Heck, I don't even know what my stats should be migrated at. What weapons and armor should I be using now? I can wear the comp helmet, chest, gloves leggings and boots unbuffed, but it seems to just drag everything down.

Help. Advice, tips, tricks, secrets?

Thanks... this is my first post, so I look forward to hearing from anyone.

If you are going to wear armor, you'll have to do it buffed. I think your biggest problem is that you are trying to wear it without doctor buffs -- it's dragging your secondary stats down to just about nothing, and it's sending the HAM costs when you fire specials through the roof. Either get doctor buffed (costs about 10k for a 3 hour buff, Doctors can be found in front of the Coronet starport on Corellia), or take off the armor. When you take it off, notice how fewer action points you lose when you fire.

For stat migration in unbuffed PvE, you'll want something like:

Health High

StrengthLow

ConstitutionMedium

Action High

Quickness High

Stamina High

Mind Medium

Focus Low

Willpower Low

Unless of course you are healing yourself with stims, in which case you'll want higher Mind/Focus/Willpower stats. And if you are playing buffed 100% ofthe time, then you should just max all 3 of the mind stats (the only ones doctors can't buff).

For making money, you just need to keep at it. Run destroy missions, keep selling things, eventually it piles up in your bank account.

Yup, he's right. Don't wear comp without a buff because of how it drags down your secondaries. You could try ubese though. You can wear that without a buff.

As far as leveling and money goes:Keep selling and keep pulling missions, just like Randonb said, that are your level or slightly higher. Grouping helps get you more xp don't forget. Even if you just group and then run off on your own.If you need a change of scenery from Tat but don't think you're ready for the tougher planets you can always try Naboo, Corellia, or Talus. Rori even.

Eventually you will level and make money. You just have to be patient.

Don't feel pathetic. There really is no need for it at all. Just think, by taking your time you can really get to know this prof inside and out. It gives you lots of time to experiment with the different shots. That is alot better than rushing through, mastering and still knowing nothing at all.

Oh and btw, do Techs first for fanshot at Tech 4. Eventually, you'll want to invest in more pistols too. You need a DX2 and a FWG5 (acid and heat) because of variations in resistsat the least.I can take some critters down faster using those. Actually they're my 2 main pistols. Next is my Republic. I rarely use my Tangle and my Striker isn't even in my inventory.

Don't worry. Things will happen for you soon enough.

Don't know if this got answerd but If you are lugging around alot of crap that you don'treally want to toss but want to hang on to you can do a few things. One is get a house but that can wait till you feel like wasting the cash for storage. Second join the bank and storestuff you want to save in there. Third if you haven't already get a back pack. Gives you 50 more slots when you equip it. As far as using the Rep blaster that will work for awhile but you'll need to up your weapon inventory. You'll need a Fwg5 for heat damage, a DX2 for acid and you can continue to use the RB for energy. By now you should start examining your targets to see what there resists are to and for any vuls they have. If they have low resists, you'll want to use the correct weapon of choice to deal the correct damage. IMO pistoleer is by far not the easiest grind there is but you have the desire to be a pistoleer so you are well off. Now just continue on your way like you have been and come back if you need anymore help and refer to the FAQs from time to time.

I can store items in the bank? Shows what I know See! I knew this was the place to come for help. I'll put a lot of my crap there, and for those interested in helping me unload, I have six of the Bile Soaked Rancor Teeth I got from Jabba up on the Corbantis Trade Board.

I have a DX2 with Acid and an Fwg5. I rarely use either, but now it looks like after taking closer looks at enemies and going beyond just seeing if they are 'instant death' or not, I'll give them a shot. No pun intended.

I also got the schematics for a featherweight Fwg5 from Jabba which I've been meaning to hang onto, but am thinking it might just be better to sell. Any advice on that or is that a differnt post alltogether?

Again, thanks. Keep it coming because adivce like this does help the people like me who don't want to admit that they are still newbies... if only for a little while longer.

As far as the bank. All you have to do when you are at the terminal is look for a join option. After you join you will see an option for saftey deposit box or some such thing. Forget the exact wording. Anyways you can store stuff there. When you need something from the box you can goto any banking term on the planet of the bank you joined and access the box. You can try tossing the schematics on the trade boards as well or if you know any WS you could see if they would be interested in buying it. I am not sure what it will go for but thats probably your best bet unless you ever plan on picking up WS yourself there really is no need to hang on to it.
