Thread: Armor and HAM questions
The general concensus for armor is this: PvE = Advanced Ubese, PvP = Advanced Composite.
As for the best HAM setup, that's a really tough question. Firstly, it will depend on your race. Secondly, it will depend on the specials you use most frequently. Thirdly, it will depend on how quickly and frequently you fire off those specials.
I'm a human Master Pistoleer with some fast guns (1.7 and 1.1), so I'm able to spam BodyShot3 once a second, which chews through my HAM. I've tried high Stamina low Quickness, and low Stamina high Quickness. My latest HAM that I'm still currently testing is a balance of all three action stats at 800 each. Personally, I'd say try to balance your stats evenly and always keep an eye on your action bar. Honestly, this may or may not be good advice
But I hope someone more experience than I can chime in with some more information.
Now, for some temporary solutions to any HAM problems you may be experiencing... Doctor Buffs: no need to worry about how quickly you'll go through your HAM when you've got +2000 to every stat. Also Tatooine Sunburns (a drink made by Chefs) gives you +1600 to the "regenerating" action stat (I forget if that's quickness or stamina) and lasts between 7-10 mins. Then there's spices, Neutron Pixie (I think that's what it's called) gives you a nice overall boost to your stats that could keep you going in a bind.
Hope this helps, and if anyone feels that I don't know **edit** I'm talking about, please tell me ![]()

I just like to add that Strength, Quickness and Focus are the 3 HAM bars that directly effect the cost of specials. If you raise these, you can lower the cost of your specials low enough that they don't hurt your HAM bars much if at all.
As for the regeneration bars....well, they are only important in 2 specific situations.
1) you are fighting something that can do massive damage in one hit.
2) you don't have any medic skills.
ahh darn....accidently posted before I was finished..
anyway, continuing what I was saying.
if your constitution, Stamina and willpower are low, you won't regen very fast and if you wear armor it will really hurt when you are fighting mobs that do big damage with 1 or 2 hits. you can have these low but you must have medic skills or buffs. Since having high strength, quickness and focus will reduce the cost of specials including heals....you only have to worry about being hit by the mob.
This all depends on how good your defenses are and how often you get hit during battle. If you don't get hit during battle that often or enough that you have to heal yourself more than twice, you will definitely benefit from lowering your regen bars and raising your other bars. IF you wear a full suit of armor or enough armor that it drops your Ham bars real low....then your main focus should be using food buffs which are cheaper and more easily acquired compaired to doc buffs.
Either way it goes....you should buff when fighting solo no matter what your HAM bars are. When in groups you can go without buffing and armor if your ranged as in the case of us pistoleers. In PVP you ***MUST*** stay buffed....simply because everyone else will be buffed...buffing just puts you on equal ground.
I'm a human master pistoleer and my ham stats are as follows:
Health - 875
Strength - 525
constitution - 450
Action - 850 (I think)
quickness - 525
stamina - 450
Mind - 750
focus - 525
willpower - 450
with these stats and the ham of my pistols my specials are between 40 - 60. I don't use powerups and my pistol's ham are never sliced....they usually are average to high because I like damage slices over speed which raises HAM cost of weapons.
Now even with this template, I still think my specials are too high. that's whay I carry crates of breath of heaven with me at all times. stats on my BOH is +592 for 9.6 minutes and it buffs strength, quickness and focus. That gives me enough HAM on those bars that my specials only cost me less than 10 points of HAM. If I add some 3ryshake's to the mix....my specials cost as low as 1 point to no points at all for certain ham bars and that's wearing a composite armor.
basically ryshake is food and BOH is drink so you can stack them together. Depending on the quality of them you can eat up to 3 ryshake's at one time. My ryshake is +445 to strength, quickness and focus for 7 minutes. I have crates of these also.
As a added bonus, if I'm going to fight high level mobs solo I throw some muon gold in the mix and doc buffs if I feel like searching for a doc.
after all of the above (not including the doc and muon buffs) my stats look like this:
Health - 875
Strength - 2452 (2007 if I can only eat 2 ryshake's)
constitution - 450
Action - 850
quickness - same as strength
stamina - 450
Mind - 750
focus - same as strength
willpower - 450
throw on my composite armor and yes my con, stamina and willpower drop very low, but my str, quickness and focus are so high that I don't drain my main HAM bars and need very little healing at all....when I do need healing, my stim b's of 440 base power and my injury treatment BE clothes give me heals of over 800 each. on top of that, my healing cost practically nothing because of the food buffs.
Now when I'm fighting a mob that hits very hard, I substitute 1 or 2 ryshakes' for 1 or 2 vegeparsine's that boost con, stamina and willpower and I pop a muon gold too. That still gives me a boost on all stats except the 3 main bars. The only thing I have to fear here is one shot incapps for over 875 on my main bars....but that's hard to get since I'm wearing 60% composite armor across the board. So I have to be hit for at least 4400 to do a instant incap on me. That's pretty good in my book. Since I'm fencer also and have extra defense vs mods on my armor....I don't get hit very often......just last night I was fighting aakuan's....it was 2 of them on me at the same time, one con'd white and the other con'd yellow to me.....they swung at me at least 12 times each.....they missed me every time.......now I understand how great def mods are.....Oh yeah I did knock each of them down once....I was using my novice fencer skills though....not pistoleer...
anyway, stat migration is good....but buffs are supreme for sure. ![]()
