Thread: Please Say I Did Something Wrong!

Anyway, I just attacked a hermit spider. As a marksman I used to take on 4-5 at once and made quick work of them, not that much experience 'cause they were below my level, but...
Now, I drew the spider with my CDEF carbine, and then finished him off with my pistol. For *ONE* spider this took about 2 minutes, my new pistol attacks seem to have little or no effect, and I hit the spider for 40-50 damage for every 5 or so hits of his to me for 30-40 damage. When the fight ended I was at about 1/2 health (wearing recon armor converted from advanced ubese) and I got a WHOPPING 1 point each in pistol and carbine experience.
I can't begin to tell you my frustration at that, so much so that I left the game immediately and played something else for awhile.
Okay, did I do something wrong? Or did Sony decide that the grind was too easy and decided to make it tough enough that people would now yearn for the easy time they had in Lineage 2?
Please help!
Most likely they decided the grind was too easy, but I'm hoping not.
Being optimistic for the moment, I believe they'll need to rebalance PvE. They've already stated that there will be alot of tweaking "in live".

Um nope it's nothing like them thinking the grinding was too easy (which it was in my opinion..get buff..go to dant..kill very high level creatures for 3 hours..rinse repeat until master).
The problem that most people are going through and as I see it with your message too is this...you have to look at creature level vs. your level now. You can't just run up to anything anymore and kill it for xp. If the monster cons grey to you you get 1 xp off that creature. If it cons green you get a little more but not alot...if it cons blue or white then that is about or at your level respectively and you will get full xp. If it cons yellow it drops to about half of what you get for blue and white, if it cons red to purple instant death and cloning will be needed. Blue is really the optimal color of con if you are soloing. White to yellow if you are in a group. If no doc or melee in group stick with blues to whites as you will get owned even by yellows. Learn your specials, study them on lower level creatures before you head out hunting for more your level creatures. Use to learn your stimpacks (which for someone who does not have medic is a one minute cool down timer on it between uses so use the higher up stimpacks to get max damage return). When the devs said this game was going to get more tatical this is what they meant. You have to think each battle through before you engage. If you just run in as you did in the old days..cloning will become your best friend. If you stop and think and take the time to plan before each battle, then you will do very very well within the game. As Yoda put it in Empire so well..You must unlearn what you have learned. This is a totally new game here, you have to learn new ways to battle.
Okay so you are a novice pistoleer using a cdef pistol? Why? What is your combat level? If your using a cdef pistol then you won't be doing optimal damage to the creatures and that's why you are only hitting for 20 to 30 because that is the top damage more than likely for that gun. You have to check your combat level vs what kind of pistols you can use now too. Plus, what kind of armor are you using? Being novice pistoleer/novice carbineer you should be able to wear Recon Armor which will give protection more than just regular clothes.
