Thread: DX2 pistol and Armor Rating

I'm a fairly new pistoleer and I didn't learn about armor rating until they put up the armor guide. Now, by browsing this forum, I've learned that DX2 is the only pistol which has AR1. All the other pistols are AR0. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.

I've also read that an AR1 weapon vs an AR0 protection always makes MAX dam plus 25%.

If that is the case, the only reason I can find to use a weapon other than DX2 is when the target is immune. Even when the DX2 has significant lower stats.

A DX2 (dam 40-120, spd 2.0) would hit a standard AR0 mob for 150 EVERY time (?).

A FWG5 (dam 50-180, spd 2.0) would hit a standard AR0 mob for average 115 dam.

If we're up against an armored mob with AR1

A DX2 (dam 40-120, spd 2.0) would hit the AR1 mob for average 80 dam.

A FWG5 (dam 50-180, spd 2.0) would hit the AR1 mob for average 57.5 dam.

I would like to believe that I've read wrong about a weapon vs a lower armor rating would do maximum damage plus 25%. When I read the armor guide, I get the impression that it's just 25% on top. So the DX2 from my first example would not make a constant 150 damage, but rather the average plus 25%. This would be 100 damage.

Could someone please tell me which (if any) of my assumptions are correct?

I don't have a DX2, the ones on my server aren't very good, so I'm sticking to my scatter pistol. To my knowledge DX2 does not have AR1, and even AR1 weapons don't do MAX damage + 25%, they do whatever their normal damage is for that hit +25%, so a flat 25% increase in damage output. You're right on that part. Pistols that do have AR1 include the scatter pistol and the SR Combat pistol, I haven't had a chance to try the latter, but I'm quite pleased with the former.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but if you think the Mona Lisa is not a good painting, frankly it says more about you than it does about Da Vinci's skills as a painter.

Next patch - today or tomorrow - will make this easier because damage type and AR value will show on weapons when you examine them.

As far as I know:

SR Combat is AR1 and Scatter pistol (novice BH cert) may be AR1. DX2 I've seen mentioned both ways... It seems to just be AR0 though, although it's acid damage so many things are vulnerable to it.

Normal damage range is 1.5 min to 1.5 max.
AR1 pistol vs AR0 armor is 25% more damage, but of whatever you randomly rolled, not 25% more than max.

AR0 pistol vs AR1 armor is 50% less damage.
