Unless I'm reading it wrong, Body shot 3is actually better than stopping shot? It has a higher damage modifier, its quicker and it comes at the same HAM cost.

Thoughts from those who have both? I have stopping shot and it does good damage, but does body shot 3 do more damage?

Stopping shot is much better. You have mroe of a chance for hitting over 1k damage. Body shot is not great damage but good for concentrating on one HAM pool.

Body Shot 3 is indeed better than Stopping Shot. The delay on SS is very noticeable, which is even more painful if you miss. Because of the random pooling, they would have to make SS do 3x the damage of BS3 to make it even partially worthwhile.

Of course, BS2 is even better than BS3. Bizarre

I wouldn't trust the information on special moves that is posted on swgcenter.com . Bodyshot3 doesn't do near the damage that Stoppingshot does and it shows the Damage Modifier on BS3 as a 4, while SS is a 2.5. Unless I'm reading the information wrong it is completely inacurate.

From my experience any ability in the first line of Pistoleer sucks. I would take double tap/stopping shot/fanshot over their equivalents in the first row. And Fanshot is far superior to Bodyshot3

Attacking random pools isn't quite as bad as you might think. First, more than half of your attacks do end up hitting the body, i.e. health, and with both bleeds going, you'll always kill your target's health first. Only a small percentage of attacks end up hitting the head. So I'd say if your random pool attack does double the damage of bodyshot2, it's better.

For my pistoleer, Fan Shot is my bread and butter attack. I even have a macro hotkey that's queues up multiple fan shots with an occasional pistol whip. I use that button for hunting, and I just clear the queue if I want to use another special or heal. I will switch to BodyShot2 for certain situations, but the vast majority of the time, it's pointless.

In what way is Body shot 2 better than Body shot 3?

I'm one of the unlucky ones who decided to become a commando, ya know heavy weapons....lol

But I have figure out which pistoleer skills I need to go along with my insane amount of combat XP(tera kasi, pistoleer and commando)

Which shot is better is dependenton the situation. Pvp or Pve?

I guess I'd like to know the answer to both, although player vs player is my main focus. I'm just trying to figure out which route to take my gimped commando character.

Taking Jaegen's superb test data, you have the following conclusions (which are proportional to the weapon you use):

Stopping Shot
Dmg/sec : 43.8
Sec/shot : 4.2

Fan Shot
Dmg/sec : 59.5
Sec/shot : 2.5

Double Tap
Dmg/sec : 51.3
Sec/shot : 2.2

BodyShot3
Dmg/sec : 40.3
Sec/shot : 2.5

BodyShot2
Dmg/sec : 42.1
Sec/shot : 1.8

Obviously, Stopping Shot cause the most single hit damage, but with the 75% PVP reduction and the high HAMs of monsters worth killing, it will always take multiple shots. As should be clear, the delay on it is huge in comparison to everything else.

From a raw damage perspective, Fan Shot is the best. You hit with many shots, so the occasional miss won't be quite as bad. However, even assuming that you hit the body 50% of the time, it would average about 30 damage/second to health (which if it hits 50% of the time is the way you'll kill the target). That is far below both of the BodyShots. BodyShot2 is extremely fast, targets the health, so you aren't wasting damage on the other pools, and with the massive amount of damage you need to cause, it is the most reliable and fastest way to kill.

Sure I can hit something for 800-900 damage with a Stopping Shot from my Scout Blaster, but outside of the basic planets, that won't do much rather than annoy the target. Instead, you can very efficiently just empty the Health bar in a fraction of the time. Just like gambling and statistics, it isn't the occasional blackjack or unusual sample but rather performance over time that shows actual performance. Find a nice monster on Talus that you can survive for a long time against. Time how long it takes to kill that 3000+ HAM creature with each of the skills. Those little plinks with BS2 will easily outdistance the rest.

If you want to stay committed to FS/SS, then you should focus on getting the fastest weapon you can and obtaining all the speed increases. If you can get you speed down to the 1.0s floor, your SS will be as fast as BS2, in which caseyou will be killing very very fast.

Jaegan's data is not only proportional to his weapon, it is proportional to his Pistol Speed score. Stopping shot gets better as your Pistol Speed goes up. So the DPS numbers are not transferable.

Also don't trust swgcenter. Their special move data is inaccurate right now.

Body Shot 3 does 2.5times regular damage to just the health pool

Stopping Shot does 5.0 times regular damage to a random pool.

Which does more DPS depends on your gun and your Pistol Speed score.

They're transferrable until you have a weapon that you can lower the effective shot per second down below 1.0s. When you hit that floor, then Stopping Shot will be proportionately faster. But until you have that much Pistol Speed bonus, SS will get faster just as BS2 will get faster, lending no benefit. With the exception of the 1 second floor, it appears to be, and behaves just like, a linear equation.

But right now, Stopping Shot will be over twice as slow as BodyShot2and will hit a non-targeted pool. Mathematically, you cannot consistently kill a moderate HAM creature faster with anything in Pistoleer than this Marksman skill.
