Thread: Master Pistoleer Damage

As a future pistoleer hopeful reading the forums has made me quite worried. With all the talk of this special is broken and that special is terrible along with the signature Pistoleer weapon (the DX2) being horrible I have to wonder if master pistoleer is going to be worth it. A friend of mine has mastered swordsman and can take on 10-20 Stormies while buffed with no problems, I hear tales of riflemen executing the toughest mobs without a scratch and carbiners and melee profs just outputing tremendous damage. As a master pistoleer will I be able to compete with these people, or will I always have the short end of the stick? It seems to me now that we have the disadvantage of the proximity to our enemies that melee has, without the damaging ability but we can't get far enough away to do provide enough time for that lower damage to add up. Any ideas on the subject would be great, after quite some time off I have comeback to find that both my profs (Pistoleer and CM) have been hit really hard with the nerf bat and I struggle to defeat a few stormies.

Nope, you're pretty much screwed, all we're good for is cannon foder!

Seriously thom in pvp were pretty much owned one on one versus a decent melee player as all they'll do is Warcry spam u or dizzy Kd u all the time. Our prof is best suited to being part of a group and providing covering fire.(and cannon fodder!!)

One on One its just silly how underequipped we are, as far as in a group its much better. As long as you go into it knowing you are comparable to a mosquito as far as dmg is concerned you can still semi-enjoy yourself in PvP

Pistoleer wasn't hit with the nerf bat, its very hard to nerf something that never worked correctly in the first place

Now that is just sad, what kind of justification has been given for the poor performance of pistoleers as compared to the other classes? I don't want to be owning everything in sight, nor do I want to make the game easy, but I need help to do anything, and since I'm not in a guild that is hard to come by.

I dont get this. I have 2 TKM in my guild, the other night I was bored so I took them both on in a duel. Tore them up. Me and a master swordsman killed a Jedi one night. If pistoleer sucked, how was I able to help off a Jedi? I think its just fine.

Alot depends on what else you put with your Master Pistoleer. If you add BH to it then you will love eye shot. If you mix in Smuggler then you will use your last ditch and low blow. Or you become Pistol king and get both. Sad to say though that just Master Pistoleer will not cut it very much in PvE and especially in PvP. Yes it can be done but you will taste defeat a ton more than normal if you don't mix in the other professions. Yes pistoleer is broken but I still have fun with it in some parts of the game. With the release of JTL maybe they'll actually do some work on current problems now. We can only hope.

I'm Master Pistoleer and MBH and I find myself spamming the crap out of Stopping Shot.

I used a sweet scatter pistol and I used eye shot from BH pistols.

The stats on my scatter are 311max with 1.1 attack speed.

Speed slice but not puped. I was shock that it was that easy to kill her.

Master Pistoleer isnt as good stand alone to combat professions like TKM, Rifleman, Swordsmen but it isnt that bad either. If you are willing to spend a little extra for weapons and other equipment/food you can be decent still in pvp. MPistols with BHpistols is a good mix and added with smugglers dirty fighting.. the full pistol template you will be decent.

There have been many times that I have flown into the imperial outpost on Talus and opened fire with my pistol. Thats a lot more than 10-20 stormtoopers mind you. I just lay into them with Fan Shot... works great. I will admit though that in pvp I tend to rely more on master teras kasi than I do master pistoleer.

Well the key to being a great pistoleer is to takeall that you can out of the other professions that have pistol skills and learn everything you can about them..

Just the other day I took on the entire imp base on talus and killed everysingle strom trooper in the base solo. There were about 50 troopers in all. Then I took out an atst solo and kill a buffed overt imp twiceand his faction pet and killed all the stromtroopers again after they respawned .

To be a sucessfull pistoleer you have to use everything you can get your hands on. Pick up the pistol skills from the bh tree, dirty fighting in smuggler and migrate your stats

The Mastermarkman/Masterpistoleer/Desperado/Rogue temp is awesome and so is the MM/MP/Deserado/Medic

If you use those templates and do some reading on them you will be amazed at what you can do.

I agree with Tufel, although I use stopping shot and Fan shot a lot. You do need the Smuggler or BH pistol specialy is PVP. Eyeshot with Geno on a Target with no Stun is brutal. So is Eyeshot with a nice Scatter. (300MAX, pup to 397)

If you go the "Pistol King" route you can be darned nasty to a Jedi as long as he isn't a Knight.

I have found that pistols are viable, but they take more work, more strategy, and you have to get good equipment. If you just want to be instantly viable in PVP, take up TKM or Rifleman (or both) and spam the Mind Specials or the KD/Dizzy Combo. But, if you want to be differen and more Star Warsy...

I prefer the latter
