Thread: Combat Prowess question...speed or accuracy?

I have four points left and want to dump them into Combat Prowess...

Currently I have speed of 111 and accuracy of 200.

Should I dump the FS skills into Ranged Accuracy or Ranged Speed?

I'd say speed. A single point in speed is "worth" more than a single point of accuracy, except when you start hitting the speed cap. And that's at what, 140?

Yup, I had the same choice recently and went with speed.

Unless you've already capped out, DPS will beat out accuracy any day of the week.

Ahhhhh the age old debate!! But what good is the extra speed if you keep missing the target. A quote from the RL Master Pistoleer himself, "Fast is fine, but accuracy is final" - Wyatt Earp.

i say it depends on where your template is. I gave up my force accuracy and speed, the difference was so negligible i found that the points were spent better elsewhere.

Etiquette lessons #1; never use caps in your whole header or post.
#2; if a post/thread really pisses you off ... kill it with silence
#3; never write a post more than 3 paragraphs- unless it a guide
#4; never say "sticky this," others will if its worth a sticky.
#5; in the heading never say "devs please read."
#6; never ask for a rollback, just wont happen.
#7; Never use too many colors.
#8; Avoid quoting quotes of quotations, he said she said who said??

Go with accuracy. In my experience, 111 speed is more than enough, and 200 accuracy is low (especially if you PvP).

More accuracywill increase your DPS (you don't miss as often, and you deal more damage each time you hit), and it will also increase your damage per point of action cost.

More speed will increase your DPS, but it will also increase your action cost per second.

But as guessit said, it also depends on your template, and on the specials you can use. If you're BH/Pistoleer, with 105 speed and with a weapon with 2 speed, you should already be able to cycle between Adv. Critical, Torso Shot andImproved Body Shot with almost no downtime. Therefore, more speed won't help you much with high-damage specials.

Against elite CL80's and higher, I've hadmuch better results with 108 speed/272 accuracy than with 113 speed/232 accuracy (I know it's not an apples-to-apples comparison, but keep in mind that my defenses were 45 points higher with 113spd/232acc than with 108spd/272acc). I actually noticed a significant difference between 269 and 272 accuracy--again, against high-level mobs.

WIth 108 speed/272 acc, I could kill a CL81 NS ranger withabout 1/2 my health left (with "only" 245 melee defense).

I think people are still in the pre-CU mindset, when hitting the speed cap was key, because buffs made SAC irrelevant (err, well, except for carbineers, that is ), and accuracy was not much of an issue after defenses were capped at 250. IMO, post-CU, having high accuracy and preserving your action poolare much more important than reaching the speed cap.
