Well, it's been a long time since I posted here and an even longer time since I actually fired my DX-2, I've never stopped loving this profession in all it's gimped glory, hehe. I still have all my old pistols and carbines in hope that my favourite professions finally get the dev loving they rightfully need. But this is not why I have returned to make my first post in months, I came back because an old friend mine who is returning to the game read this forum and told me what was going down and I must say some things surprised me, other things, obviously didn't.
First of all, our new correspondent LordMax is a man who understands balance. His focus threads that ask you guys what you want implementing also ask what you are willing to trade for it. Give the man the suggestions he needs, either that or give your word that you won't cry when you think something has been "nerfed" in order to balance your new stuff. I was an avid supporter of Randonb and always trusted his "visions" for this profession, although I've only read a few posts I can tell you have a fine correspondent here, he's the ONLY combat profession correspondent that is asking his community to suggest the trade off, the only one interested in 2 way balance, give and take. The others are all, "we're gimped that guy's uber, nerf him and love us" If you don't start respecting that he's going to take the same road as Randonb and half the other correspondent that have left in the last few months.
Secondly, all this "master pistoleer cert only" "stop dabblers" blah blah blah. You know fine well that the only people who dabble in pistoleer do it for state defence on their ranged professions. The BH can MASTER pistoleer and dual wield same as you can, the guy stacking a little defence will use his own gun. Don't be dumb and ruin something that will make the work others put into getting master pistoleer a little more flavourful. What could be better than getting that skill box with +5 to dual wield accuracy and then thinking "I might be able to dual wield my DL44s properly now" Furthermore, pistoleer is actually the biggest dabbling profession in the game right now, with smuggler dirty fighting, novice commando for launcher pistol cert, BH for pistol mods, moves and scatter cert and of course Investigation 3 so you can lead those melee stackers to jedi and get paid real money. Please, look around you before running your mouths, if you put a little thought into what you say before you say it, it can save you from looking dumb when someone reads it.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly. The pistoleer community needs to reach out and work with the other ranged professions to help achieve an overall balance in this game. You may be surprised to know that the Squad Leader and Ranger forums talk about weapons quite often, specifically on which they prefer, obviously Bounty Hunters and Smugglers talk about pistols at great length as we do, hell even basic Marksmen have some input. I urge the pistoleer community from the newbie grinders and marksmen looking for help right the way to the masters and of course LordMax himself. I'm not saying that all these forums have helpful suggestions or even suggestions at all, but it makes sense with everyone conerned about how changes to pistoleer affect the hybrids and other professions to ask them what they think.
To summarise
Improvements to pistoleer must come at some sort of cost in order to achieve real balance, if we accept that now we won't feel as nerfed come the revamp.
For pistoleer to hate dabblers is like the pot calling the kettle black, I don't expect this attitude to change much but think about it at least.
To lessen the aftermath of hotfixes required for our profession after the revamp and therefore ensure we are "as intended and agreed" we need to talk to the hybrids who's skills we use as well as those who use ours.
Remember that this game is using a profession based system as opposed to a class based system, all skills are mixable between characters. Talking to other profession who CAN but don't necessarily use our skills can be just as useful as talking to our own.
If any of the above as come out sounding blunt or tactless, I apologise. If it has offended anyone I remind you that this is a forum for a game and should not be taken overly serious but you may have an apology nonetheless. For those who reply in support or discredit of my words apply reason where possible and to the one star ninjas out there, bite us all.

Welcome back...
What posts are you referring to? The discussion threads?
I wouldnt worry too much about ideas posted in those threads being taken as gospel.
It seems to me that a fair amount of common sense and experience is being applied in the latest patches and this bodes well for the combat upgrade.
Things are looking good right now, but I would avoid speculation on Dual Wielding and such until after the CU, hopefully the CU will be such an all encompassing change for the better that we'll all have to adjust to it before we think about other additions to our profession.

There is not much I can add to your post: it does well on its own.
