Thread: OK, a working Republic Blaster (if it does work) is nice, but now a big can of worms...
So, some people are reporting that newly created Republic Blasters work (I couldn't find a smith to make me one in time tonight) -- but this would open a new problem -- the logic in obtaining the certification itself.
No one has ever worked out the logic inthe certification -- some people have it, and obtained it at character creation, and others do not. When the weapon did not work, this confusion did not matter much, but now it might matter a lot.
Furthermore, what about the balance in handing out such a powerful weapon certification at character creation? Should Novice Entertainers have access to the second most powerful pistol in the game? Aren't all the other energy pistol certs, which actually take xp and skill points to obtain, kind of pointless to someone with a working Republic Blaster, certified at character creation?
Note -- I would be very happy to have a working Republic Blaster, but I am just concerned about the balance here.
I made essentiallythe same post in Correspondent forums earlier today ... I have a long thread going on there with exactly the same points. I ask them to explain how we get the cert and ask them to put the cert in the Pistoleer tree.
So far no response from the Devs, just from other Correspondents. I'll let you know what happens.
Here's a big problem I see:
The republic blaster has very good long range accuracy (ideal range is 64m I think). So it's basically a rifle that gives pistol xp. I'm betting we can expect to see that changed in the future.
And by the way... it doesn't show up as a certification for me, but I can still use it fine. It's a nice little gun =)
