Thread: Finally got PMD1

I've been playing since launch but on a very casual gamer time scale due to a very busy scedule. I've watched many things be flavor of the month and watched allthe nerfs hit before I could ever savor a short lived uber ability myself.

The one I watched come and go with the most angst was when Pistol Whip's moment in the sun faded. Early on it was the master of PvE & PvP people could spam it and level up in incredible increments.

Pure Pistoleers were one of the most feared PvP opponents in the game...

Now, in November, I have finally trained in Pistol Melee Defense long after the nerf and I have to say that even now it is so freakin cool!

I've only had one other box make such a dramatic difference in my combat effectiveness as this one...

2 questions though:

1. Is it worthwhile to make a macro with PMD1 & PBA2?

2. What's the deal with PMD2? Does it knock down as well?

Just wanted to share and if anybody has insight on PMD2 it would be greatly appreciated

I got another question 2: I got lowblow and PMD1, but when figthing kam's, it looks like my target can resist the KD from PMD1 a lot easier then then one from lowblow. Has any other smuggler/pistoleer noticed this?

1) No. I'd never bother with PBA2. Just use BodyShot.

2) PMD2 does nothing -- it's worthless. It spits out some (random HAM) damage but has HAM costs similar to PMD1 so it hurts you almost as much, plus no knockdown or anything other state effect.

I've noticed this with BH Underhand v. Pistolwhip. I'm going to test this sometime soon when I test the defenses.

Point Blank Area 2? Last i checked it only attacks a single target, I wouldn't bother.

But you did remind me of the good ol' days when I pistolwhipped that rancor to death

I'd be interested in seeing someone do a more in-depth analysis of it, though. I have PMD1 and PMD2 chained, and if PMD1 hits and KD's, PMD2 occasionally will also hit and do 1600-1800 pts of damage (at max) because of the prone/melee modifier and very little delay.

Yeah, I was trying to give the old Pistoleers some fond memories...

Thanks for the feedback Philo, really appreciate it.

PMD1 used to be so wonderful... it actually worked. Something has been done to it though... it rarely ever works anymore... and never when you really need it to. It fails to knockdown the target most of the time, and when it does, it is usually on a very low level target. It did not used to be like that. Perhaps at one point, it was a bit too effective. I recall being able to knock down Faamba almost every time I tried. As usual, when something is tweaked to correct (AKA balanced), it is taken to the opposite extreme. They castrated it.

Don't try to use PMD1 in a life or death situation... the wasted time will get you killed. Do not try to use it against Commandos, Teras Kasi, or Bounty Hunters, they will resist it almost always.

The animation is pretty silly when you do kill something with PMD1... you kill it with the knockdown, then it gets back up to do the death animation and fall down again... how hard would that be to fix this?

It would be really great if the devs could FIX IT, since it is our only knock down/state change and it is a melee defence for when we are in real trouble. Why break such a thing so badly?

Indeed, I suppose that since there is a defense vs KD, each kd shot has got its own value. And from what I've seen, pmd1 has by far the lowest (pistol) kd value there is.
