Pistoleer Archive
Thread: I love pistoleer.
Pistoleer was my second profession mastery on my main toon... something like 1 year and 8 months ago. I dropped it, but I REALLY loved its style, so I always knew I'd go back to it if SOE made it more viable. And they did! I went back to pistoleer after the CU and I don't think I've ever had more fun with this toon.
Disarming shot and intimidate shot let you control people well at close range... stopping shot is spectacular for holding mobs (or angry Jedi) at bay... bodyshot is nothing special, but it gets the job done, which is more than I could say for 70% of the pre-CU pistol specials.
Just felt like sharing my joy about the fact that pistoleer is actually FUN TO PLAY now. No more double-damage-to-lairs attack! No more heavy AR mobs making pistols worthless! Ahhh, something smells like victory. ![]()

I agree... Pre-CU I was a Melee guy, and I loved tanking things close up. With my TKM/Swords/Medic template and my 90% composite suits, I was a God among insects. I saw ranged players and NPC'sas flies to be swatted.
After the CU, I respec'd my crafter into a BH and decided pistols would go well with BH, mostly so that I could keep an eye for my Jedi and guild Jedi. Now I'm finding that it's more fun than Jedi!

Disarming shot is great especially if you have someone tanking. But what does intimidate do nowadays?
Can't disagree bout it being fun to play, I've been carbineer, and rifles but keep coming back to pistoleer.
Intimidate reduces the targets attack damage by 20%, not as much as the pre-cu 50% or so, but it's very useful.
Combined with Smuggler's Overwhelming Shot or Improved Shock from CM which both lower the targets state defence, Intimidate is very useful indeed.
Then you can stack on some attack speed debuffs like CM's Improved Thyroid Rupture and/or Pikeman's Warcry to make your target fairly impotent as far as causing damage goes.

Pistoleer all the way!
Funny.. I was a pistoleer BH pre CU and I never lost to a Melee Stacker unless they had a uber Mind Fire Dot weapon... I looked at guys like you as flies to be swatted.
Thanks Altaire!!, hearing that from you is one more point in favor of me switching to pistols.
