Hi, I haven't played since Feb 2004 but have come back to see if I want to continue playing SWG.
I'm a 0-3-2-0 Pistoleer, but can't use a simple FWG5 Pistol, because I apparantly don't have the certification. I used to have a cert for FWG5 pistols, and certifications are no longer listed in the Skills page. Can anyone explain to me how I can get this certification back? I also no longer have the certification to wear my basic bone armor chestplate.
Right now I can only use a CDEF or POS Scout Pistol, which means that my previously formidable architect/pistoleer can't beat a nuna without taking 90% damage.

try this place :http://stettin.guennibearserver.com/stettin-weaponschem.php
you'll see most weapons just have a level certification, if it's a specific box that's required it's also mention.
pistoleer is certified for recon armour, which is tantel, mabari, ubese and factional scout armour (ah and thatithorian and furrball armour)
don't wear any admore with advances cores yet though as the hindrance (like the old encumbrance) is too high an it will decimate you movement speed and pistol speed/accuracy.
if you really want to wear armour to grind, ask a WS to make you a set with lower hindrance

Or you could just read the guide that is stickied at the top of the forum.

actually I read all the faqs of BH, Commando Carbineer and Smuggler when I came back
Carb and pistols are some of the only updated for the curb...they really should either remove, or tag all pre-curb info...I've even seen guides with the info mixed

CorbaerTek,
I was in your position about 2 weeks ago. I was returning from pre-JTL (jump to lightspeed). So many things have changed. There is so much info (much of which is difficult to find or is unpublished). Sometimes current players forget how many little things have changed and they assume that you know things which are buried deep within experiance in the game. The pistoleer guide is a great resource, but a lot of it won't make sense unless you have a good foundation in the way the entire game has changed (CL "Combat Level" for example). By the time this post reaches you, you've either found good sources for info or just gave up and quit altogether. I was pretty frustrated coming back. I love it now though. Here are a couple sources that contain good information. The current manual online btw is out-of-date and completly insufficient.
SWG Wiki
Wiki's explanation of Combat Level (CL) (the new leveling system)
Very good articles
JTL article
Most forums have great faqs too.
The in-game holocron is great for quick answers. Although it doesn't contain detailed information.
There is a ton more info out there that you can either get from ...
a.) getting in and playing along with asking in-game questions or
b.) web research
I would suggest a little of both. Best of luck to you and all returning players.
Note: There needs to be a specific thread for people coming back from the pre-cu/pre-jtl days. Also for new players. I've seen a couple of new player guides in the forums, some are good, but it's really not good enough. It's either not organized efficiently or it doesn't contain high level descriptions for people who don't understand the concepts. Any thoughts?
