Thread: Question about Pistol Types

Been running around on different planets and killing all sorts of different critters. Was wondering how many different pistol types there are.

I guess there is a stun type coming out somewhere down the line, but is there a cold based attack one? Or is all we have available to us is just energy/acid based types?

My question stems from fighting kryats last night and wishing there was a cold based attack pistol I could have used.

Theres a stun (the Tangle) and a kenetic (Striker) but both of these are nothing to write home about. The DX2 is acid, the FWG5 is heat and the scout blaster and republic blaster are energy. None of the others are really worth bothering about.

There are 2 new guns coming in the next publish (I think), the featherweith FWG5 with some skill mods and much the same stats as the FWG5 (at least as the ones on my galaxy) and another stun weapon that looks like it could be better than the Tangle.

Theres no cold based pistol at the moment, in fact the only cold weapon I know about is the SG82 rifle which has a cert in the Marksman rifle tree.

There is also a mod republic for rebels coming(got a nice DOT but same stats)

Once you are about1 or 2 on the speed skills get rid of the Scout it a waste of time.

Those pistols "not worth writing home about" can be worth writing an essay about if they are well crafted with the right stats, and some good slices

I've got a DL-44 (energy) 70-199 damage, 2.0 speed

A tangle (stun, and pretty much just for composite wearers) 80-130 damage, 3.1 speed

and a DX2 (acid, I'm novice pistoleer and it's been decent in PvP for me) 125 - 200 damage, 2.2 speed

They aren't excellent but they're definately better than most other pistols of the same type that I've seen...of course there are the few that I see hanging on people's walls that do insane damage (for a pistol),...or they'll be for sale and just be extremely expensive

You should not that I'd already mentioned the Tangle and DX2 and was refering to other pistols that I hadn't mentioned, the D18, the DL44, the DL44 metal, Power5 and SR Combat are all pretty poor compaired (on my galaxy at least) to the Scouts and republics which do mostly the same types of damage.

Personally Ive got a krayt enhanced scout, but I still carry a republic blaster, a FWG5, a DX2, a tangle and a striker. Its about the right gun at the right time.

Ok, maybe I should read my own post before I respond, too much beer I think

The point stands though, the right gun at the right time.

My metal DL44 tops out at 408 max dam powered up, with a 1.4 speed rating. Nuthin to sneeze at and only 1 tissue was needed.

Take a good long look at yer guns, get to know a good weaponsmith. Every gun has it's time and place, it's up to you to find them.

AKAIK only the SG-whatever (rifle) uses cold damage.

By tissue, I'm guessing you meant krayt tissue, but the sneeze thing and tissue was a good coincidence
