I heard post-cu there are no caps anymore...so would I just want to nuking futs and by all the speed tapes I can get? When would they start proving useless?
Or should I be checking my modified attack speed?
I bought a 951 dmg max de-10 w/ pup goes to 1077, so I really wanna give this profession the best chance I can. My modified attack speed is 1.57 w/ mbh/mpistols, but i really wanna get this lower.
I might be buying a +24speed tape tommorrow, but I wonder, how much is too much when it comes to tapes? do they start losing effect at a certain point? also, does this have the same effect for gen rang spd?
I remember pre-cu things would cap at like 120 or so.
Sorry if I'm rambling...im just confused.
Off to bed, I'll check this thread in the AM!
Thx in advance!

From memory, the current speed formula caps out at 140. Well, it doesn't "cap" exactly, but adding a new point doesn't make a difference. And each point has been steadily devalued up to that point aswell.
I'd say go for it, even if it's a small and barely noticeable difference, a tenth of a second here and there can be the difference between being the deathblower or the deathblowée.

Ok, can't find an actual speed cap, guess thats why riflemen are able to fire at around 1.0 modded speed, what does happen though is you get diminishing returns, such as increasing your speed mod when you have 50 by 10, will help more than if you increase it by 10 when you have a 100 speed mod
Modded Speed = (1.26*(Weapon Speed))/log(Speed Skill), its fairly close, but can be .01 or so off.

Looks like speed can be reduced by up to 43%, actually it never approaches 43% but well nvm, formula to check what effect tapes and skill will give is Modded Speed = (1.26*(Weapon Speed))/log(Speed Skill), its fairly close, but can be .01 or so off.
That's actually a much more interesting value, as between GRS, Pistol speed and speed tapes for both of them (you can get +50 speed from skill tapes) you're quite likely to be able to hit that cap.

So really, anything over +50 pistol speed would be kinda wasted for the cost? Or would that be +25 pistol speed, + 25 gen ranged spd. Or should I just use pistol speed of +140 as my target. hehe, sorry about all the confusion.

Yes, when I said +50 I meant +25 GRS and +25 Pistol Speed, sorry.
As for whether to get that or aim for 140, hm... Not sure. I'm probably getting both myself, but it does become a bit unneccesary.

Alot of it will depend on your template, what grs and weapon specific speed will you begin with? MBH/MP for example, with a decent pistol your modded speed would be near 1.0, add in master marksman, even closer to 1, making it not so useful to cap out both grs and pistol speed mods, but if rifleman, well they can make full use of grs and rifle speed tapes, but if you go MP/MCM for example, then you could make full use of the +50 speed using tapes

well, i bought a +24 at the begining of the day, and lucked out and looted a +13pistol speed as well.
I tossed a tactical grip on my 951 max dmg de-10 and my speed is 0.98.
I dont know if i can get it much lower than that!

no becaues its impossible ot attack faster than 1.0. I have 136 pistol speed with FS brnaches and a few tapes. so i shouldn't buy anymore then?

having a modded attacked speed of less than 1.0 has no effect. I tested this with a screwed up fwg5 which i had a mod speed of .45 with. I had the same reuse and attack speed as i did with my regular pistol that i have 1.04 mod speed with. Didn't even help compensate for combat speed debuffs =[

well, like I said, .98 was w/ a tactical grip, and I'd really like to use 34%dmg pups so I'm gunna keep trying to lower speed with more tapes....I think my pistols speed is only 77, so I still have a ways to go.

Remember there is cooldown timers that can not be effected by SEA's (Iknow Badger and the Rifleman Corro are looking in to this) cause right now only Doctor Speed Buffs effect your cooldown timers! If im not misstaken Advanced Critical Shot will have a cooldown of 2.0sec evenif you have 100 Speed or 150 Speed...
When you hit 1.0 Modified Speed you cant go any faster, your cooldowns will control your attacks from there! Best approach as everyone knows is to have 2-3 (Damaging) Specials to rotate! Personly i tend to use AdvancedCritical Shot as "default"and then Torso Shot and then Critical fires against when its reloaded, Torso Shot does a little more damage then Improved Body Shot. But i belive it might drain a litttle bit more Action, im not sure!
And the cap is not acually you Pistol Speed in "Mod's" its acually your Modified Speed on your weapon, if you reach 1.0 you are "capped" with it

Requipping your gun will cause your cooldown timers to be affected by modifed speed again. See Barafu's thread somewhere on this page.
