Ok, so I'm a Pistoleer at 1-3-1-2 , and I see now that republic blaster certification has been moved to novice pistoleer. So I just bought one, went out to use it, and I got my ass kicked. I examine the weapon, and realize it says I'm not certified. What's the deal?

Is it a modified Republic? i noticed that too, i was at a vendor today that had modified, and unmodified Republics,,i was certified to use the unmodified ones, but the ones that were modified it said i was uncertified for, the modified ones all had special bleed effects on them, and it didnt seem to make sense to me that i was not certified for the weapon because of that fact, anyone know what the deal is with this?

By the way i'm a pistoleer 1-2-4-2

Since we are both pistoleers, we should be able to use them reguardless, and thats the problem, there are certian modified republic blasters we arent certified for, and we're wondering why.

I haven't tested this but I bet /examine is still broken

If you don't get the "you are not certified" message when you equip it, then you're certified.

Correct. Be aware that there are 3 types of Republic Blasters.

Pre-Fix: Nobody can use these. They werecrafted before the Blaster was made usable. There may not be a way to identify these weapons before purchase, butI doubt many of them are still in circulation. No respectable merchant would dare sell one.

Post-Fix: You can use these at Novice Pistoleer.

Modified Republic Blaster: This weapon is easily identified because it has a DoT effect, but is crafted by weaponsmiths. This pistol requires that you have a certain amount of skill level, Marksmanship3 I believe. I would have to go in game to confirm.

There's also the ones created between the first fix and before publish 7, which are apparently still usable by everyone.

Are they really? Well, I'm sure that pleases some people, particularly Bounty Hunters. The weapons won't be around forever though, and I haven't heard anything about them being stockpiled.. I actually have a pre-fix (uncerted) one on display in my house on Live.

My Jedi can still use his RB just fine. I may have to get my guild smith to wip me up a new one to see if it is a "pre-nerf" type of thing or if we just got boned again.

Ok Randonb, while i was in game today i double checked all of the pistoleer lines, to see if i could find anything that denotes when a pistoleer was granted the ability to wield the modified republic, and i didn't see any other certs available in the tree, so either examine is broken reguarding this, or the devs need to fix the display in the profession tree to let pistoleers know when they can in fact use the modified republics.

I couldn't stand it any more, so i bought both versions of the republic i ran into ( modified and unmodified) and i noticed at the very bottom of the modified i ran into it did say "this weapon requires the marksman skill pistols 3 in order to wield it proficiently" so this might be one made before they moved the cert to pistoleer. but anyway, i could use both with no penalty as a pistoleer 1-2-4-2 even though when the modified was examined, it said i was not certified.

either way, this is something that needs to be addressed.

Correct, it's Marksman Pistols III.

I'm doing what I can to get a resolution to these issues. Not the placement of the Modified Republic Blaster, though. For now I'd like to get an explanation on why it is available earlier than the standard Republic Blaster. If there is a valid reason behind it, that's fine. If not, that's something I would talk over between myself, Dilune, Tanks, Smuggler_Caylin and thecommunities they represent, as it concerns all pistol-wielding professions.

I don't consider it an important issue, either... a few marksmen one-shotting gnorts (they have done this ever since weaponsmiths hit top-notch)or Smugglers/BHs getting a decent pistol doesn't sound like a huge problem to me. It doesn't make a lot of sense when you take in the whole picture, but at the same time, we don't want to appear to be saying "no, the preciouses is ours!" if you know what I mean.
