Thread: Pistol XP in grps.
Im a Novice Smuggler/Novice Pistoleer, and its become very apparent i have a long future of lots and lots of pistol xp, most of which will come from grps. So my question is...wat is the best way to get pistol xp while in a grp, especially a grp with TKAs...wats the best pistol, wats the best special atk to use that gets the most xp?
i currently have a brutal FW5, currently looking for a good scout blaster and dx2 to slice up

get both your health shots in
get at your optimum range for the run and be prone or kneeling
use a high rate of fire weopon
The thing with using only health shots is a bug, if you use only bleeds to kill a mob you do not get any credit for the kill or get rights to loot/harvest, soto testthe bleedshit the mob with the bleeds then hit with a single basic shot, and seehow much exp you get; then get a friend to attack the same typeofmob youhit it with just asingle basic attack and record how muchexp you get.If thier is no difference thenbleeds do notgive exp, if thieris a difference then bleeds do.
However you will see that you get more exp with your bleeds, this is based on a older fixed bug. You use to beable to hit a mob with just bleeds, and then switch weapons and use that new weapon, you would get full credit and exp for killing that mob using only that new weapon.
This is veering off topic, but here's something I noticed about Health Shots:
If I use Health Shot to make something bleed and then switch to unarmed, when I kill the target (even after it bleeds down about halfway), I ONLY get unarmed xp.
Keep that in mind if you ever want to work your way up Unarmed or TKA -- take a Health Shot and then go in for the unarmed kill.
i believe you *do* get xp for bleeds, but perhaps only if you hit the mob otherwise as well. In terms of mobs killed with and without bleed, I've never noticed an xp difference.
My recommendation would be to hunt solo. I like grouping, but unfortunately my experience has *largely* (with some exception) been that grouping slows the xp gain because 1) you are sharing xp with others and 2) groups are slower moving (kill something, cheer, chat, discuss where to go next, argue about who's harvesting and who's not, etc.)
You do get XP for using Health shot in a combination with other shots. I always hit first with a health 2.....push them back with warning....as they are bleeding...then finish with a body shot 2 or 3. I get beaucoup experience bringing down large creatures with the combo. To boot...they never get close enough tomelee attackyou....but you need to be semi close when they die for the XP.
I tested and verified this. When solo, I get the same XP for using health shot in combination with other attacks. When grouped witha pet, I get far less. Here's how Iverified it...
1) Group with a pet, which will do fairly standard damage amounts from one creature to the next.
2) Attack a creature with avery highHAM bar that won't kill your pet. Fire a fewbody shots, then use health shot continually until it dies. You will get a very small amount of XP (even though the creature took more damage from bleeding than anything else).
3) Now do it again, but without the health shots. You will get plenty of XP.
If you trythis solo, you will get the same amount of XP for both fights.

Seems like it has to do with when the health shot was applied. In my experience the attack immediately following the healthshot gets the experience associated with the DOT bleed. Do a health shot, hit with knucklers or other weapon, then use firearm. The exp. to the handheld weapon is pretty good, more than just a hit with it.
Looks like if you don't do another damaging attack to the critter after the healthshot, the experience is lost. Good observation Scivi.
