Thread: PvP experiences Post here pistoleers
The greatest of all pvp skills is? you guessed it Torso shot. Helth is a commonly damage pool. The wound damage they get recieve leave them with all black bars after 3-4 deaths. In PVP it's a lemming fest. Object of the game? Make is so they can no longer duel period, blacken those bars as fast as possible. Many times I have been in duel where ppl are naked because they cannot where armor and they have no clothing for some odd reason.
Yes spaming high damage attacks that hit only one pool are great for winning battles, but to win the war... You have to force them to quit.
Other things that do great wounds... high damage mindshot2s, these can blacking ur bar in one tic plus kill a guy in one tic.
Well, I just made Master Pistoleer. Must say that it is well worth the wait. I also must say that now that I am master I do not see a problem with BHs. I've dueled 5 BHs since I've gotten MP. Won em all. I also do nightly raids on Theed in Chilastra with my fellow PA member Daxius, and I rarely die. Disarming shot 2 is one of the best moves I've seen. And btw Jaegen, we should get together and raid Theed sometime hehe.
Curious,
I rather prefered the disarm2/Stopping combo.
It seemed I hit more on the max dmg with stopping rather than fan shot.
This happened a week ago, and I didn't care to post it then. But seeing so much confusion about profession balance, I think I should share a brief experience to get the ball rolling.
I'd been itching to PvP, having come from a full time PvP MMORPG. So I bought a deflector shield, some OK armor for chest/legs/head, a few power ups, and went overt.
I spent 2 hours running around cities that everyone would say "don't go there overt, you'll get killed". Eisly, Bestine, a few other cities..finally I starported straight into Theed (I'm wanting to die at this point..quite bored). So, as the loading screen is doing it's thing, I hear combat music! So to be funny, I smash a weapon style hotkey in case I can actually do specials while it's loading. Alas, I arrive at the starport to a Clone Activation window. Some Master Pistoleer did disarming shot 2 followed by multiple fan blasts as I was loading, without any defense. But porting into theed was pretty dumb I suppose..even though load killing/dying seemed weak.
So I recall reading about being able to kill your killer for a while after, so I start looking around. After almost giving up, I get a target in the cantina. Horray! So I march into the cantina, it's crowded, and I give a little disarm+ fan back to the guy that saw fit to kill me while I was loading, then hide in the cantina (not that there is anything wrong with that). Disarming 2, fan blast....dead master gunfighter. I think fan hit for 1000, I dont recall. Yay for vengance!
So, I'm keyed up now, and ready for more fighitng. I decide to try Bestine again in hopes of something having changed in these 2+ hours. I run near the imperial hill and see a red dot on the radar b-line for me. I tab and it's a player!! So I disarm 2 and fan blast..dead imp!! I got hit with a sap shot..so I find a nice quiet place (out in the open right next to bestine) to heal up and wait it out. While chatting with some folks I see about 4 blips on the radar. So I stand up and yell "bring it on" or something retarted like that and start attacking. I incap two players right off the bat. One pet is knocked down, and 2 more close with me (fast). One hits for 500, I get posture down attacked (cant run), then the other hits me for 550ish...I drop. Oh well, was 3+3 pets on 1, no biggie.
I run into bestine and find the guy that DB'd me. I kill him in 2 shots, then head back out. (killing while covert seems to be silly if 1-2 shot kills are the norm)
NowI grab a buddy of mine, and we meet up with a smuggler that PvPs a lot. The three of us come back to the general area and are not disappointed. It's the three..but they added a bounty hunter (one that PvPs a lot), and another pistoleer/CH. So now it's about 4 pets (rancor, three cats), BH, and about 3-4 pistol users, maybe 5..things are moving too fast. So we charge. I have the BH targeted first, knowing his eye shot will 2 shot me.
I use disarming2 + fan blast.
Here's how it went:
Disarming blast: miss
Eye Shot on me: 700
Fan Shot: 600
Eye Shot on me: 700.
Dead me.
OK, so we re-group and rematch. This time I hit with knockdown and take the BH out quickly. We end up killing all of them, and fight two of the cats for about 10 minutes (why we kill players in 10 seconds and pets it takes 10 minutes...not sure). Since it takes so long, it gives the BH enough time to come running back to get us. We see him coming and nail him at range..sorry, try again
.
Finally we finish the pets (or they become not-attackable, I forget), and head in for another bout. This time my target gets stuck on the pets and I continue to attack them despite my intention of having switched targets 4 shots ago. not that it mattered much..at this point it's about 7 on 1 since my friends are already down.
We log at 2am.
So, that's my first SWG PvP experience outside duels. Started out slow, ended up being a blast. Granted, 2 shot kills aren't all that fun, nor is spamming KD (and still dying...so not invincible), armor still seems quite useless by in large (I'm aware of how it works, it seems composite is one of the few useful PC crafted armors types), and covert killing, while it does itch the need for vengance, seems odd. Did the pistoleers that weren't master fare well? Heck yes, one 2 shotted me with stopping shot. Did the BH do well? Yeah, eye shot put folks down fast..no heal. Did the BH have trouble vs a master pistoleer? I downed him twice, even with us outnumbered. Did CH do well? Seem to, posture down and fast pets hitting for 500...ouch. Pets seem too time consuming to kill though, I mean, AR1 or AR2 with 70% reisists and 10K HAM..that's just not needed IMO. If we can't DB them, make them far less damage resistant IMO. But that's based off ONE PvP experience, so it's not really founded on much.
Point being, I felt quite effective as a master gunfighter compared to CH and BH + pistoleer users. PvP is certainly over too fast, and needs tweaking in many ways, but overall effectiveness..I don't see how it was a big deal. Without disarming 2 I don't think I'd have fared nearly as well being so outnumbered. Thats certainly a testament to needing to be master for a pistoleer to really see them shine. Anyway, just wanted to share that for those that haven't had a chance to PvP yet, and wanted some feedback on how effective we seem. Hopefully we can get some more stories here to help educate us all on what pistoleers are up to.
**Side note, I fought another master pistoleer and decided, to be nice, not to use disarming blast and used fan shot instead. He spammed disarming shot on me, of course. Two Disarming blasts hit me, I didn't go down (?!), and I fan shotted him 3 times..dead. By no means a test...but it was interesting.
What exactly are the effects of disarming shot 2?
Cheese
Hey Jaegen.
I'm a rebel and I run ninja assaults on theed alot. People will camp the starport waiting for you to port in, it's just an inevitablity.
My advice is to come in from another city on naboo ( like moenia because you can go overt there ). And to arrive at Theed ShuttleB. There is always much less people there ( I've never been jumped there ), and it isnt far from the starport where you can run a surprise assault on the imps there.
I've never gotten jumped at Theed ShuttleB before I had a chance to get my faction pets out.
Another tip is, when people die and come back from the cloning fac they have a first strike TEF to you. Since they went covert when they died you cant attack them. So basiclly they will be able to walk up to you unmolested and open fire when they feel like it. In the current pvp system a guaranteed first strike usually means a guaranteed win.
I find that I can avoid this TEF zerging ( when you die, you do it again to them, then they do it to you, ad infinitum ) by running guerrila strikes on the city, running through fast as I can and wiping out all the imps, then running out of the city and going into hiding until TEF drops ( about 5-10 minutes ).
My usual run in theed is to go from theed shuttleb, through the back of the med center and out the front, swing by the recruiter, and go through the starport and jump out the bay where the shuttle takes off and run down the cliff, this area is usually safe.
Then to come back I go around the starport and by the cantina ( fun to kill people in there lol ) and back through the med center and then out of the city by theedshuttleb. Then I can do the loop again.
Somebody used Sap Shot on you in PvP?
Stop picking on newbs, you big meanie! ![]()
