Thread: Is it worth it to be a Master Marksman?
I'm planning on becoming a Master Pistoleer. A master marksman gives you some additional bonus (Pistol Accuracy +10, Pistol Speed +5) but at the cost of several skill points (Rifle and Carbine skill branches).
If I become a master marksman and pistoleer, I've got enough to become a master creature handler and three points for whatever else.
Of course if I don't become a master marksman this allows me to vest my skill points elsewhere and become a medic. This would give me the ability to heal my pets.
Also, is there a cap on Pistol accuracy. I think there is one on speed. No matter how fast you are, 1.0 is the fastest you can be.
I went for Master Marksman for 2 reasons. I am a Squad Leader so I needed the ranged support tree anyway, so I figured why not go for Master Marksman.
2nd Reason: Master Marksman has a total of +17 to ranged defense. I say that's definitely worth it.
If you are trying to become the best at Pistols, then yes it is worth it unless(like in my case for example) you are doing something like Master Ranger as well so you can't afford it. Here is the reason why, if your goal is to become an all out pure pistol weilding maniac then you want this combo:
Master Marksman, Master Pistoleer, Master Scout, Novice Bounty Hunter and all Bounty Pistol skills. You can do this and still have 13 skill points left over. The combination of BH pistol skills plus the Pistoleer skills will make you very deadly.
But, its not worth is if you have plans to advance in other areas where the lack of skill points wil hurt more than help.
The biggest upside is that you can get master marksman in a day
If you decide to get rid of it later then just forget it all.
The advanced skill trees are the only things that take though since they take much longer.
I'm gonna ask, even after reading strung out, broken pieces of information in other various threads.
How the hell can you make -master- marskman in just one day? Even if it's a Saturday or something, with nothing to do all day. How? Lets say you have a good weapon. Like my FWG, for instance.
63-169, 2.0 speed, unsliced. Lets say I got it sliced first. Where could I take this to get Master Pistoleer in.. oh.. two, three hours? I calculated that out to, 505 experience per minute, for three hours. Lets say you had 3 hours for each.. 9 hours of gameplay. NINE HOURS in a day of playing, solid.. with a -constant rate- of 505 experience per minute.
I can get that now, with my rate of killing (hardly a miss, can take good mobs, have armor, etc). But as a beginner.. ? =/
Alot of people have been hanging out in the caves all day long and using an expoilt where the creature cant attack you at a certain spot. Its like a 1,000 xp every garglatch.
LOL!!!!!!!
Put it this wayi made it to novice pistoleer in less than 2 days, and i wasnt trying.
so i think master marksman in one day shouldnt be a problem.
LOL!!!!! THAT WAS SO FUNNY!!! HAHAHEHAHAHA..
Anyways.. my point still stands. Just because you made novice pistoleer means absolutely nothing. It's a lot harder to level up with rifles; they are slower, and you can't deal with a mob right in your face. Like I said, 505 exp a minute. Sure, if you are exploiting, I understand. However, if you aren't.. that means killing at least 505 exp worth of mobs every 60 seconds, every single minute, for 9 hours, with all 3 weapons. That means, no travel time, etc.
I'm sure it can be done, but how, is what I am asking. Not for some arrogant smartass who spent WAY too much time grinding to come and say, "LOL I DID IT ITS SO EASY!1" =) It seemed to get easier for me when I got a better pistol, able to kill things like Shauputs and RSF camp mobs (reds) from expert to specialist. But with rifle, it's slowed down a good bit. . No way I could have done it in 3 hours.
You can also sacrifice your life as many people do and play 18+ hours a day- Hell, I'd be lying if I said I haven't. Getting Marksman is easy stuff.
Go to rori and hunt nudfuhs from the mission terminals for a constant supply of prey. Or hunt bantha's northeast of Mos Entha or south of Mos Eisley - thats easy xp too.
