The development process should be taken into account when suggesting fixes!
There are many problems with the pistoleer profession that need fixing. However, suggesting new content and will only cover up existing problems like deoderant only covers up B.O. There are just some thing that can't take the place of good old fashioned soap!
So...this is a list of reasonable fixes to long-standing pistoleer problems that does not require deep coding:
1. Pistoleers should have access to combat status conditions. This is in line with "functionality vs. reality." we should never have damage equal to riflemen or carbiners or commandos. However, it reasons such that we should still be useful in combat. We should be able to lay out dizzies, stuns, knockdowns, and intimidates so we can at least benefit our groupies.
2.Fix point blank area2. just cut and paste the code used for unarmed spin, 2handed spin, etc.
3.Pistoleers should have access to more damage types. The combat revamp is supposed to adress this but just a reminder, cold and restraint are two widely unusedcombat types!
4.Pistoleers should be the fastest combat profession.BruceLee could never bum rush afrom across the room before they could pull the trigger at least 3 times (although he may have dodged it
). This is reality even in the starwars world,I'm not talking about jedis as much as the regular player. Its just a cold fact that a person with a drawn pistol can pulla trigger so much faster than a person can punch. However we don't have a speed advantage over melee professions. a simple fix for this is reduce the delay on pistoleer specials.
Special player news!!!
There are some things Everyone would like to see, however, the developers know that some things aren't so easily implemented, unfortunately the community relations people fail to make it known that some ideas take a really long time to work.
for example, dual wielding pistols would totally rock and would fit well in the game mechanics. However thats HARDCORE coding, thats not just adjusting a few numbers to increase damage or add an effect, thats creating new animations, digging into the core of equipment systems, digging into the core of combat math. Its just overall tough stuff. And even though we rightly deserve our money's worth, because that is such a large undertaking for a reletively low outcome, the developers most likely will not do anything about it imediately.
I'm with the player community all the way, I was just hoping that instead of begging for the moon all at once, we could work our way into the developer's brains by asking for a little at a time. These are reasonable requests and hopefully the title will attract someone's attention

most pistoleers aren't begging for the moon. we just want to be comparable.
holsters and dual wield are wishlist items...every profession has those.

I think perhaps the problem with wishlist items like the hardcore holsters and Dual Wielding, is that they're ammunition to procrastinate on existing issues. "You pistoleers want dual wield? We like that idea. And instead of fixing your specials right now, we'll look into it. Expect to hear news on it sometime after christmas 2004. Happy holidays!"
