Thread: Pistoleers Can Successfully Hunt Solo On Lok
The key is preparation,and knowledge of how to use your specials.I use a complete set of Ubese 72% armor,Doc Buffs, and an assortment of pistols.My point is in PvE the Pistoleer is not the lame profession which some have claimed.Alot of people stand in front of an enemy and using the same tactics over and over again and cannot understand why they are being easily killed.It is not the profession which is to blame.I have been soloing everything, minus uber-Krayts, well before I made Master. And without armor or doc buffs. I do use food buffs, I can heal myself, and I have a very good knowledge of tactics and terrain. Knowing how to use terrain being the most important for land creatures, and tactics for the flyers.
Armor is for sissies, and it slows you down.

with armor and buffs any comabt profession can handle most pve in the game . however high end pve which means mobs with a medium armor rating is where the suckiness of pistoleers shines . i am a doc / pistoleer so i can pretty much kill any mob in the game , solo the geo cave etc but that is only because of the doctor skills . the problem is that using a ap-1 weapon makes it take forever to kill mobs with medium or heavy armor . tka's are the only other profession who are limited to a ap-1 weapon but atleast they have super defnces , great toughness , an pump out decent damage at the speed cap at master and get the nifty meditate tree, and usefull specials like dizzy / knockdown , state effects and targeted mind hits for pvp .
the same applies to pvp . naturally a pistoleer with good tactics and uber equipment can and will defeat a unprepared opponent with a better template however if both parties are equally skillfull and well equipped chances are that the pistoleer will bite the dust . i have spent millions on awesome pistols and skill tapes and yet a noob master rifleman with a 10k jawa will outdamage me with ease .

I challenge you to hunt on Lok or any advanced planet with no buffs, and no armor. Mostly though no buffs at all. Then see how you do. You can't count the game with buffs they totally throw things out of scew. A rifleman, especially with ranger, can solo big stuff, with patience, no buffs or armor. Not sure about carbineer. Any of the melee proffessions, especially TKM, can solo almost anything PvE with out buffs or armor.
Now I'm pretty good in PvE combat, and use my scout/ranger skills, and tactics. I go all the time with no buffs or armor. Most I might do is some brandy and helm, for my small mind. I can take a lot of things, but more then 2 yellows at once, especially npc as opposed to animals, and I'm screwed. More then 4-5 whites and I'm probably dead. We are underpowered to our combarable straight up combat professions.

The various types of Klickniks are much more difficult than the Kwis.

Um, any profession can beat anything with docture buffs dude. They max your stats 3x. I sat in Fort Tusken for 2.5 hours and took 0 damage. The regen rate is insane with full buffs. That's why I don't use them. It's not even a challenge. It has nothing to do with pistols and everyhting do do with the buffs and armor you had.
Yeah, go take on a Nightsister Elder with buffs and you'll still get your butt handed to you. Everyone can solo the Tusken Fort.

The various types of Klickniks are much more difficult than the Kwis.
I've found the enhanced klickniks much easier than the Kwis since they've got lower resists to the damage types we can do.
