pistoleer 3040 is going to be useless. we're only good if you go up to master.

i can't speak for carbines.

I would say Mpistoerl adn BH pistol line caues oyu can hit the Health or Mind but then again if you do teh carbines you get a dizy adn a KD. Thats what we get if we dont have enough skill points

oh, egh, sorry.

i'd suggest the template i'm going for: Master Pistoleer, BH 0040, and Force Sensitivity Defenses/Combat.

you gotta keep on the ball! TH said that the deconstructed FS skill boxes aren't completely right, but are close...enough to speculate, at least.

I'd suggest going the Pistols route. You get a fire shot and a mind hit, and you'll rarely miss and you'll fire all your specials at the speed cap.

With carbines you'll also hit the speed cap, but you won't be spamming ANYthing. Carbines have killer HAM costs. Literally. Using carbine specials cost a ridiculous amount of HAM and the guns have nasty HAM costs as well. I think it's been summed up inthe Carbineer motto: "I bet you can't kill me before I can kill me." Plus, I heard that most of the BH carbine specials don't work.

But all that will be addressed in the Combat Rebalance.

I'd go with pistoleer. I've done both 3/4/0/0 BH and 3/0/4/0 BH with the respective master (or near mastery in pistoleers case) and I found pistol to be a lot more effective in PvP and PvE. For PvE you have torso shot combined with healthshot 2 and/or modified republic blaster's bleed. You can use those to start everything around you on DOTs then focus on one at a time. You could easily finish off large groups doing this and as you may have noticed torso shot does a good deal of fire damage. In PvP you have eyeshot, mind damage+blind... that is about all you need.

This probably won't help you much, but I'll just offer some words of experience as I've mastered carb with some BH carb, and now have a character doing master pistoleer.

As far as HAM costs, they really don't matter unless you're not buffed, so you can throw that factor out the window. Buffed and with two brandies I think each carb special was costing me 1 mind point.

I think it all depends on what you want to do, and what style you like to play. For pvp, pistoleer is the hands-down winner because of the stun damage option. That being said, carbineer was very fun in pvp as well, but with a group to take some of the heat off you. Basically carbineer is a state dealer. You can blind/stun/dizzy an opponent so quick at master it's scary. KD's are nice too. But as far as one-on-one me-vs.-you combat, it would be very hard for a carbineer to defeat a pistoleer of comparable level. PvE I would say carb might have a slight advantage because of the state-dealing, but that advantage would only really be evident against humanoids. And again, you have a bit more flexibility in your damage-type options with pistoleer, so it's very close.

As I said before, I think it just comes down to how you like to play the game.

I have another question to add to the fold. I currently have master pistoleer and am working on bh Pistols4. I have been thinking of using the extra sp to go up to bh carbines3 instead of the investigate tree. I thought it would be nice to have the ability to have the kd/dizzy from fire knockdown. Also, does the fire dot from fire knockdown stack with the one from torso shot? Is it worth it to bother with the carbines tree? Also, with invest3, does that allow me to hunt jedi?

I would like to know this as well. Plus what would be the best carbine to use for this? Assuming that I will not have enough sp to get novice carbineer. Im debating on this or picking up rifles for the extra plus 10 to either melee or ranged defense. Not sure what route I am gonna take.. Or I may just go bh pistols 3 and keep intimidate.. Which leads to my final question. Can a master Pistoleer/BH 0-0-4-0 hit a defense stacking fencer? Of course I will be testing it when I finally get this stinking scout mastered.. Dang I hate traps..lol.

Actualy I think the fire dot for BH carbines is broken, or at least I never saw it work. I didn't use it to often though.

Also, I have not been a BH Carbine user for longer than I have not been a BH pistoleer. I am not certain but isn't underhand shot the dizzy/kd and fire knockdown just a KD and sposed to do the fire dot that I am not certain if it works.
