Thread: I hate to say I told you so...

...but I told you so.

"Pistoleer is a profession facing some pretty challenging problems. We've been told that the Combat Balance aims to fix a lot of these problems. Can we look forward to sweeping changes (revamped specials, added functionality, speed, significant number tweaking, etc), or primarily only basic bug fixes?

You can look forward to sweeping changes in terms of functionality, speed, etc. But again, I stress, we talk about this topic a great deal in a conceptual form. The rubber is going to meet the road when we bring the correspondents and other players onto the Combat Balance Sandbox server. When that happens, we’ll be able to ask all the important questions and make changes based on the answers as opposed to all this nebulous discussion (which is a result of asking specific questions before specific data is available. All I can communicate this point are goals)."

I refer you to this previous post:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pistoleer&message.id=47601#M47601

Whereupon I pleaded that we not ask a question that could be answered with "It's coming in the Combat Balance".
Well, we asked a question that could be answered with "It's coming in the Combat Balance", so we got the answer we deserved... /sigh

Again, I call on pistoleers to come up with SPECIFICITY that CANNOT be answered with a Combat Nerf answer. Such as:

The specifics of dual-wielding?
1. What will be the certification (master, I hope)?
2. Will it actually be firing two pistols at once (roughly the same speed but roughly twice the damage) or will it be firing one pistol, then another (useful for splitting damage types, looking cool, and nothing else)?
3. What are the planned bonuses (more dps, etc.) and minuses (perhaps reduced accuracy)?
4. What is the ETA (combat balance, a mini-publish after that)?
5. Anything else SPECIFIC we can think of that will NOT be given mere lip service to with a crappy two-sentence "just you wait until we balance everything out, it will be uber-spice" answer.

If we had asked that question we would have gotten pretty much what the Fencers got, something like; "We are unsure of the specifics of dual wield at this point, but you'll get it sometimes after Jump to Light Speed!"

I'm not sure you can ask a question without the "combat revamp" or "after JTLS" being an answer. Or them just giving a complete non-answer.

Yeah, I know, but the point of the previous thread was that asking the questions plants the seeds we want to reap. For example, that we want it to be a Master-level skill. That we want it to be firing two pistols at once, rather than one at a time, alternating, etc. etc...

TH picked the question himself. We had better questions, but this is the only one he wanted to answer right now.

because of the fan fest, TH decided to answer a "fun" question..... just something to simple that he could answer off the top of his head

our real question is coming later. i will also point out that we asked ABOUT the combat balance, so your assumption of a "wait for the combat balance" response is null and void- that's NOT what he gave us.
